During my recent shopping in Beer Market La Louvière I bought not only Polish beers, although their choice in this shop is very large. I assume that there are so many different kinds of beer that it will be difficult to try them all, but I try do my best.

This time my choice was "Hair In The Mailbox" from the Danish brewery Mikkeller, a brewery created by two teachers who brewed their first beer experiments in their Copenhagen apartment just a stone's throw from the famous Carlsberg headquarters. Seventeen years later they export their beers to more than 50 countries around the world and run as many bars and restaurants.

Back before it all began, beer was just something Mikkel drank to get drunk when partying with his friends – and the cheaper, the better. While studying to become a teacher, the young Dane got a job at a local café, where he was introduced to Belgian beers like Chimay and Hoegaarden. He quickly developed a taste for the foreign beer and came up with the idea to found a beer club with some friends.

If your hair gets stuck in the mailbox, sometimes what you need is something good, solid and boozy to set you right. Well balanced with biscuity sweetness, juicy American hop aromas and a rounded bitter finish. Everything you’d expect from a new world IPA, brought to you by the masters at Mikkeller.

It wasn't my first beer from Mikkeller brewery, but so far none of it has delighted me, the same is in case of "Hair in the Mailbox". It's quite correct, but an average American IPA with a golden colour and a medium-high white head. The aroma includes citrus and tropical fruit notes, tangerine and mango. It tastes similar to sweet caramel malt with a slight bitterness and floral notes in the aftertaste.

It seems that so far I have choose wrong, because in many circles the Danish brewery is cult and has many supporters. And what is your experience with beers from Mikkeller? Maybe you advice me good one.
