Beer Time #22 - La Tiote

in BEER4 years ago

Yesterday I went for daily trip to the North French cost to catch some sunshine in the Cote d'Opale area. There is a tradition that during visiting to a new place, in addition to the standard sightseeing, I look around for local product shops where I hope to find local brewing products. There was no different at Boulogne-sur-Mer.

First local beers I seen in aquarium shop, but they offered some only in 0.75 litre bottles, which could be too much for me I thought. Walking along the streets of the city centre I found a shop Saveurs et Terroirs d'Opale on Victor Hugo Street, where I could find different local products: cheese, jams and beer.

I chose only four beers from different breweries and in different styles. One of them was light and refreshing La Tiote.

On a warm summer day we are looking for a shady place to cool off. This year Eric, the founder and main brewer of the French brewery Les Brasseurs des Terres d'Opale, brew beer to meet the needs of the market by brewing the latest beer in his collection La Tiote. A light, very refreshing and aromatic Belgian Blond style beer.

Two years ago nice brewer Eric decided to give up his profession of technology teacher in high school after 25 years and started making craft beer. As he says, the brewer is fulfilling himself and doesn't feel bored because, in addition to the most interesting brewing process and experimentation from his point of view, he is developing and looking for suppliers of the best quality brewing products. What a beer that doesn't please customers. He loves contact with other beer lovers, he appreciates the most sharing the knowledge and passion, as well as carefully uses the opinions of his customers. That is why the farm in Baincthun, just a 15-minute drive from the centre of Boulogne-sur-Mer, where the brewery is located, is open to the public for guided visit four days a week.

As far as the beer itself is concerned, it presents itself very nicely, pale golden in colour with a high fine white foam, floral and fruity aromas, while the taste is very malty, with a noticeable dried fruit and caramel. A very good beer to cool down on a warm summer evening, after the fact I regretted that I didn't decide on a bigger bottle, because 0.25 litre one was quickly gone.
