Beer Time #24 - Ramborinage from Brasserie du Borinage

in BEER4 years ago

In the spring of this year, when most breweries had to reduce production of beer due to lock down, a small brewery in the Mons area went against and made a special beer to fight COVID-19.

In the opinion of brewers from Brasserie du Borinage, there is only one man in the world who can cope with a pandemic. His name is Rambo, John Rambo, an undefeated veteran of many conflicts. Rambo has dealt with the American sheriff, the Soviet soldiers during his missions to Vietnam and Afghanistan, the rebellious soldiers led by the sadistic Major Pa Tee Tint in Burma, and recently the Mexican drug cartels. In this arrangement, the COVID-19 will not have a chance with a superhero.

Label of Ramborinage beer present masked face of John Rambo. The name of the beer is the result of a verbal play in the combination of the two words Rambo and Borinage. Apart from the fact that Ramborinage beer brings refreshment on summer days, it has been created for special tasks. 10% from the sales of each bottle is intended for support for healthcare workers who were in the front line of the fight against the pandemic.

In the initial phase, when most shops in Belgium were closed, the brewery offered direct door-to-door sales. I acquired these beers in a more traditional way later on after the biggest restrictions had been relised. In mid-August Brasserie du Borinage brewery announced that they donated more than EUR 1200 to a special medical support fund.

Ramborinage is a typical Belgian blond beer with delicate citrus, coriander and orange blossom aromas, very tasty and drunk, but a bit too sweet for me, maybe it’s just because of all these IPAs, APAs and stouts that I drunk lately.

Good to see that even Rambo wears a mask in these times.

The design is really good, considering that Belgian beers are a classic, I have no doubt that this one is also excellent. !BEER
