Hello, beer lovers! 🍻
How do you feel? Is there something new, or is everything the same?
I jumped into Copenhagen on Monday and spent almost a week there.
I didn't want to go, but I had to finish some commitments and do it there. It was still quite successful, so I am happy with my work.
And there was still some time for a beer every evening 😎.
On the first day, I found myself in a pub - I didn't even have to look for it - just a few hundred meters away from the hotel. My colleague and I were looking for a restaurant with food, and it just popped up.
I could even say that the pub found me, haha.
Åben Mirroring
Brewed by Bryggeriet Åben, København, Denmark.
Draft, 0.4 l, alcohol 6.5% ABV, IBU N/A.
It's a NEIPA (New England India Pale Ale) or just Juicy-IPA style, with intense fruit flavors and aromas, hopped with American hops, and less bitter than traditional IPAs.
What do the Master Brewers say?
Mirroring is part of the reflection series of NEIPA's. All of the beers in the series are based on the same malt profile but vary in hops. We also used a new yeast strain that enhances esters production and it is fermented at a slightly higher temperature. All of which gives more body and more of that exotic fruit aroma and taste. Mirroring is made with Citra, HBC 692, Amarillo and Cryo Amarillo. It kicks in at 6.5%.
🍺
Åben is not only a brewery but also a tank bar and restaurant. The restaurant wasn't open yet, so my colleague and I tasted a few beers.
From the outside, it's nothing special.
There is an attractive interior space, although it's minimalist.
But it's the first time I've seen beer tanks in the air, not on the ground.
The beer is then poured directly from the tanks to the guests.
I tasted Åben Mirroring; there was no particular reason for it. They had six different IPAs, three dark and three sour, to choose from, but it was the beer of the day, and I ordered it.
The beer is cloudy yellow, with a bit of head. It has a fruity aroma. The sip goes down smoothly. A pleasant bitterness dominates, but not too much. There is a natural richness of tropical flavors with a discreet sweetness of mango, citrus, and pineapple.
Everything lingers in the aftertaste for a while until it disappears.
Very fresh, juicy, and fruity! It is a great beer with balanced bitterness, sweetness, and fruity flavors. After all, it has to be, as it's straight from the tank :)
My colleague and I had two. I would have stayed for a while, but my colleague convinced me to go elsewhere. After all, Copenhagen is famous for its excellent pubs.
And next time, there will be more :)
And what am I listening to as I write this and trying to remember the great tastes? Something from yesterday's #newtunes post. The new British band is on my radar.

Mmm mango beer sounds pretty good to me hahaha I like the place, love the simplicity of the logo and I’ve seen those thanks up there sometimes, we need to find out what’s that all about! Cheers for that job well done and keep enjoying those pubs!!
Haha, thanks. Yes, very juicy and delicious. I don't know about the tanks; all these, let's call them, more eastern breweries and brewpubs in one usually have classic tanks, sometimes copper, sometimes steel. Maybe it's a more modern, automated approach to the process and takes up less space, but what do I know. Cheers! !BEER

BEER
from @seckorama for you. Enjoy it!We love your support by voting @detlev.witness on HIVE .
This beer has almost no foam, it looks like some fruit juice. It must be very fruity.
That's right. Because it comes directly from the tank.
Ok, thanks for the information.
That's quite amazing and I spent my summer vacation in Copenhagen. What a great city, it surprised me to the max and I liked the new scifi buildings which were intertwining with the old historic ones.
It's true. I was surprised,, too. It's a very lively, young, and multicultural city with lots going on.
I like the Aben logo. Nice clean and simple design. Quintessential Danish.
Agree! It's clean and straightforward.
