Beer Tasting: Ludger's Mexiqana and Pozoj IPA

in BEER11 months ago

Hello beer lovers! 🍻

Here, summer is already smiling on us and people are coming out of their houses. But where to? To the seaside, to the forest, to the mountains, or, like me, to finish the chores in the garden.
I usually travel everywhere during the week, so I prefer to stay at home for the weekend. And if there's nothing going on outside in the evening then I make my own party :)

Of course, #beersaturday, 309 in a row is on the schedule and while I was in the garden in the morning and in the field in the afternoon I had two bottles of beer chilled, one French and one Croatian, to brighten up my evening.

🍻 😎 🍻

Ludger's Mexiqana

Brewed by Saint-Omer for Spar UK, rue Edouard Devaux, Saint Omer, Hauts-de-France, France.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 4.6% ABV. It's Pale lager or American lager style, which ussually means that's lager with low bitterness and dry finish.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Taste of Mexico.

Well, if the master brewers have nothing else to say but the taste of Mexico, what can I write?

The beer is dark golden in color and the head is average. I don't smell anything. It goes down the throat smoothly, there is no bitterness, rather a malt sweetness, corn aroma, and notes of grain.
In the aftertaste, there is a bitterness of hops for a moment and it quickly disappears.

Nothing special, usual industrial lager, if cold then drinkable. I'll forget it soon.
Best to move on.

🍻 😎 🍻

Meme? It won't be on today, but I have a riddle that has nothing to do with beer, and I took a picture in the garden today.

In my mother's garden I discovered a plant that is not supposed to thrive in our conditions, that's to say in central Europe, but it's quite large.

🍻 😎 🍻

The question is: What is the plant in the photos above?
Here's something to help - It has been cultivated by humans for thousands of years and its fruits are edible.
The first person to answer gets 1 BEER token. 😃

🍻 😎 🍻

Pozoj IPA

Brewed by Zmajska Pivovara, Zagreb, Croatia.
Bottle, 0.33 l, alcohol 7.3% ABV, 70 IBU. It's IPA, India Pale Ale style beer, hoppy and bitter beer with fruity aromas and almost no malt sweetness.

What do the Master Brewers say?

Pozoj is a classic representative of the West Coast IPA style, characterized by great hoppiness, citrus, and tropical notes. A lot of hops give it a strong bitterness and a refreshing aroma of grapefruit, with quite a bit of pineapple and orange. Powerful and strong like a mythical monster, Pozoj is tame with those who know how to handle it, and the inexperienced - beware, because Pozoj is a hop bomb!

After seven years of tasting beers, I think I have some experience :) 😁🍻

The beer is clear golden in color, the head is average, and disappears quickly. It smells very much of tropical fruit.
A sip goes down the throat smoothly and the palate immediately develops a strong hop bitterness, which dominates, along with a pronounced aroma of grapefruit and tropical citrus, with no malt sweetness.
In the aftertaste, the bitterness with tropical aromas lasts for some time.

I agree with the master brewers, it's indeed a hop bomb, but very well balanced with grapefruit.
A very drinkable and refreshing beer, certainly one of the best Croatian IPAs. It's available in two supermarket chains here, Spar and Mercator, so I'm sure I'll have a few in my fridge.

🍻 😎 🍻

And what am I listening to as I write this and taste the beer? Something from yesterday #newtunes post.

Spoon - Sugar Babies

Thank you for your attention.

You and me both in the garden on weekends.I would chug a couple of those light mexican ones during the day and then have the IPA as a nightcap!

Awesome stuff old friend!

Cheers! That's not a bad idea, but if I had to choose the light beer, I might choose something else. !BEER
