My forever-loved son turned one the other day, and despite our desire to give him something beautiful and fancy celebration for his first birthday, his father and I were unable to do so due to a limited budget.
We decided to prepare food for him at home at noon and then go to Quiapo church in the afternoon. So, at night, we bought what we needed for the next morning and only prepared a small amount of food for him.
We went to the market at night together with my son; one of the things my husband likes to take with us is so we can go for a walk because I don't leave the house either, haha. We bought aluminium trays, paper plates, seasonings needed for fried chicken and lumpia, mango and groceries here. We even purchased chicken lechon from Baliwag for our evening meal.
After we ate dinner, I started decorating, and my husband helped me blow up the balloons while my son had fun playing with the balloons in his playpen. His dad gave him the dinasaur and star ones, but the one he liked the most was the star because he could see his face in it, hahha lol.
I also finished my decoration, but the balloons eventually fell apart because my pandikit couldn't take it. The one I ordered did not include chain-tie balloons, so it was a waste of time for me do it lol. I also looked at the grocery store where my husband and I went, as well as a few other stores, but none of them sold chain-tie balloons.
I did it at 11 p.m., and my son had just woken up that time, and it was already 12 a.m. when we finished, but my son didn't want to go to sleep. So we just played with him, and at 4 am we both fell asleep haha lol.
My husband and I began cooking at 10 a.m. after waking up at 9 a.m. my mother-in-law was the only visitor we had anticipated, since we were no visitors, we planned to make some Chicken hamonado, fried chicken, lumpia, and Pansit. We also didn't bother to prepare anything elaborate because we didn't know anyone here.
He purchased a cake, and I cooked and wrapped Shanghai lumpia. When he returned, he made fried chicken, Pansit, chicken hamonado, and lumpia. He also bought double-sided tape so I started decorating while talking to mama.
When my mother-in-law arrived, she brought us a ring cake.
She also brought a mini speaker so we could sing along and have something to do, haha. She also knew we didn't have much at home yet, hehe.
When my son awoke, at 2 p.m., we had finished eating haha, so we just let him blow his cake.
My son is one year old. I can't believe it, but I'm also happy because time flies so fast. I didn't know what to do and was writhing in pain during his birth; now he's a year old. Even though he has grown up, he is still Mamas baby boy, and he will always be loved. He taught Mama to fight for herself. He is also the reason to dreamed again and my life regained direction.
We didn't even make it to Quiapo Church because he woke up in the afternoon.
So, he sings along together with his mamala; his grandma loves him so much. His grandma made him feel how much he is loved before going home, and also his Tita mom (my sister-in-law) came here at night.
I know this is not an ideal first birthday but his father and I will go home and prepare a food for him on his next birthday. He will have many guests and I will make sure it will be fun and unforgettable because it is also better to celebrate with his cousins and other children. For now, we will just take him a walk, I will tell that about it in my next blog.
That's all for today, Thankyou for reading..

Happy birthday to your son and welcome to Toddler stage 🤣😊.
Nowadays, intimate celebration was in trend not only for the budget but I think that how it change since the pandemic.
When my son turns one, we go home in my province and had a small celebration.
Just immediately families, my parents, siblings and the husband and kids.

Thankyou so much ate @cthings 🫶🏻🤍
Happy 1st Birthday, little handsome! 🥰 The celebration turned out so well — you really don’t need to worry! Sometimes, the simplest celebrations are the most special, as long as the parents and the people who matter most are there. You don’t need a huge crowd for it to be meaningful. He’s just one year old and won’t remember much yet anyway. The decorations, the videoke, and the happy company were more than enough. You did amazing as a parent, Ate Cristy! 🤩👏🏻
awe, it's so touching huhu, it makes me sad because I couldn't give him what I wanted for his birthday but when I read this, I suddenly felt soft, thank you jam for appreciating our effort huhu.🤧🫶🏻🤍
Happy birthday to your son maam. Wishing him healthy mind and body for everyday. Simple celebrations sometimes matters the most. The joy of preparing and decorating is the core to your sons memory.
Thankyou so much, yea even it so simple, It's also a relief that we've prepared something for him at the same time. hehe
Having a simple celebration is still the best. The love in the room is what matters most, not the number of guests or amount of food. Happy birthday to your little one!
