Every person, thing, or place has its history. Accounts of this are corroborated by visible evidence from ancient times. My dear Hive friends, let's talk about the historical remains of the Second World War.
This is about the war tank that was taken out from the bottom of the river in Medellin, in the Northern part of Cebu, Philippines. It is believed to be one of the most powerful weapons used by American soldiers against Japanese soldiers during the Second World War.
According to eyewitnesses, the acquisition of this war tank is a project funded by the municipal government because many people will benefit from this historical remains.
What are the benefits? People who study history will especially benefit because the history they are studying will be more vivid in their minds if there is evidence to be observed. They can also make comparisons with older events. They can describe how strong the force of one group is against another group.
For example, this war tank is believed to be one of the tools used by American soldiers in the war against their enemy, the Japanese soldiers in the Second World War from 1942 to 1945.
In the first world war, war tanks already existed. But the war tanks at that time were not very powerful compared to the war tanks of the Second World War like the historical remains that are now in the Municipality of Medellin. It was one of the most powerful tanks in the 1940's with long range and higher precision to hit the target. But the question is, how did this war tank fall into the river?
I tried to ask this question to the native inhabitants of the place. I spoke to an old man who narrated the events to me. His name is Junior. He said this story came from his father who witnessed the event during the second world war.
This is what happened according to him. The river where the war tank is taken out separates Poblacion and Caputatan Sur, the two neighboring barangays in the municipality of Medellin. Because of this, a bridge was built so that people could cross from Poblacion to Caputatan Sur and vice versa. Caputatan Sur and its neighboring barangay Luy-a are the main territory of the Japanese soldiers.
The Japanese soldiers' camp is located in barangay Luy-a, currently the location where Sugar Mill is located today. When the American soldiers invaded to fight the Japanese soldiers they landed in Calape, Daanbantayan which is the neighboring municipality of Medellin. Their main target is the Japanese camp. When the Japanese soldiers found out about this, they quickly cut the wooden bridge to Barangay Caputatan Sur so that the war tanks of the American soldiers passing through Poblacion could not cross to that barangay, the first Barangay before Luy-a.
After all, because the American soldiers did not know in advance, the first war tank was the one that fell into the river. Junior added that his father saw the American soldiers hurrying to get out of the war tank that was about to sink. I took a picture of the exact spot in the river where the war tank was taken out. These were all the important facts I gained from our brief conversation.
To compare the historical situation and the present, I got some pictures of it. I also took pictures of the surrounding areas.
I have also included the exact location of the camp of Japanese soldiers during the World War at present.
This article that I have contributed is only a fragment of the sad history of the World War. I have learned a lesson from this. If we examine the First World War, the country of America and the country of Japan were friends and they allied or cooperated in that war against other nations. However, in the second world war, they became enemy nations. Presently they are friends again and have mutual benefits. These changes in the relationship between nations signify that we are living in a world of uncertainties.
