The Median Flats' City View From the 22nd Floor - An Airbnb Room Review

Another Cebu summer outing for my husband this year and as usual, we are tagged along! Thanks so much to his company for paying for our week-long stay in the city! It's a good treat to the employees and so I was not surprised when the company was given the title as a Great Place to Work in the Philippines. Check out the post here.

As the wife, I have to choose the place to stay, this year, we are booking two properties, one in Cebu City and another one in Mactan as their summer outing will be held in Movenpick, and it is their first time. I on the other hand had visited the resort back when I was still with Gemango.

This review is all about our first Airbnb room at The Median Flats in Lahug. This is a nice location as it is near the husband's office. The things that I consider when booking an Airbnb are the following:

  • location
  • pricing
  • it must have at least 50-inch tv (for the little one's entertainment)
  • kitchen (for us to cook)
  • pool ( a plus)
  • good reviews
  • parking space (if we are bringing a car)

So let's go and check out this property hosted by West!

Lobby

The Median Flats is a 38-storey residential condominium by Citrineland Corporation. Their target consumers are go-getters, young professionals, pet lovers, social buddies, and many more. Because of its location in IT Park and major establishments, this is a perfect spot for those who are working near the Lahug area.

I love the lobby! I love huge furniture, the industrial wall finish, and it being spacious is just nice. The lobby staff was also helpful and although our room doesn't come with a free parking space, they allowed us to park for 3 hours so we could get our things up to our room. By the way, there's a lot of space outside the building, near the Aerospace school and most of their unit owners would park there overnight, they'll move in the morning to make way for the students' and instructors' vehicles. We did the same on the first night.

Tables and chairs were there for those who would like to meet up with clients and whatnot. I found some homeowners also staying here for a few hours.

During our stay, the lobby was not busy. Only a few people were hanging out there so it was quiet and tidy always. There were three elevators available too which were all fast and efficient.

I don't know when this building was finished but I see that their amenities look new and if you search on Airbnb, there are quite a few owners who are posting their properties on Airbnb.

I must say that they are one of those Airbnb units we had booked that have good and spacious lobby! They even have some garden roof decks which I regret not checking out.

Unit

Our unit was on the 22nd floor, the building has 27 levels so we have a good view of the city. Before booking this unit, I already considered some other options, most were located in IT Park but because of its price and the view from its working station, I was sold out.

themedian2218 (1 of 38).jpg

Here's the door of the unit, it has a digital intelligent lock on it. We were given the code the morning of our first day, we were also allowed to check in earlier at 1 PM which was super nice of the owner but we ended up checking in at 4 PM instead as we visited Robinsons Mall.

Below is the view of the room from the door. I was trying out filming real estate too as we bought a new gimbal, I have it at the end of this blog. I highly recommend you check it out and let me know how I did :) Please be kind, it's my first time!

There were square mirrors on the right wall and opposite to it was the kitchen sink. They have a good shoe container and an alcohol bottle, very convenient whenever we take off our shoes! There's a native mirror too and the owner's sign above it plus a light behind it. THe theme of the room was white and wood and very clean!

Kitchen

The kitchen is small but it has all we needed. They have provided a set of white cooking utensils and knives. The sink is deep and just enough. They got a blower or range hood exhaust fan which I used always. A water heater and a rice cooker were both available, a fridge and a microwave are very essential too!

themedian2218 (3 of 38).jpg

The drawers have a drying rack and it contains plates and glasses. The above-sink drawer contains the pans, other mugs, and glasses. I must say that this kitchen has all the things that we need! I cooked the entire stay so we used it almost every single day that we were in the unit.

They also have salt and pepper available and a trash bin which was just below the sink, super good and well thought of. I had to buy my own dishwashing soap though because what they have here was not anymore making bubbles!

Bathroom

Opposite of the kitchen is the bathroom. It didn't have a smell which was good, several times before, we stayed in different Airbnbs and their bathroom would either smell like someone had just pooped or someone was there smoking.

Thank goodness they made it clean and well arranged with the sink's mirror having a first aid kit and the kits.

They got hot and cold shower too which I am delighted, it's always nice to have a hot shower, it's one of the things that I enjoy when traveling. I found their pail and dipper very aesthetic. I guess I found this posted in Home Buddies before!

Bed

themedian2218 (33 of 38).jpg

Let's move on to the bed! Whilst it says in the listing that this unit can only accommodate two individuals, their queen sized bed was all good for the three of us including our little one who sleeps like a chopper!

Two towels were provided and I wondered by they only prepared two as we were staying for four nights! I was expecting them to at least provide four! But anyway, we survived the whole stay with the two towels although it was not the best type, the texture was not very water absorbent.

themedian2218 (18 of 38).jpg

As you can see, my little one already had made a mess before I could take photos of the bed. His toys were all around and he took the plastic leaves out. I just decided to take photos anyway. The bed also comes with some drawers underneath which was helpful in keeping some of our stuff.

themedian2218 (15 of 38).jpg

Opposite to the bed is a storage closet but some of its drawers were broken, we still have space to keep our things in there. The closet also contains hangers, a spare electric fan, a massage table too! I was planning to use it but forgot it during the entire stay.

Also, the bed comes with another storage on the headboard. The bedframe was so heavy too that it was hard for us to get the toys that my little one had dropped at the wall side.

Couch and Entertainment

The area that my son had claimed to be his was the couch. It was a small one enough for two people to sit. There's a table set too and a 50 inch tv with premium Netflix and YouTube although we used our own accounts during the stay.

themedian2218 (34 of 38).jpg

A karaoke was also available but I didn't even bother using it because I am afraid my son would break it. It's the viral small karaoke speaker with two microphones, I didn't dare take it out as my son has an obsession with speakers and microphones and I am sure he won't let it go if he finds out there's one in the room. Some games available are dominos and the stick game plus they got a love language card set too!

This area has a view of the city too and the small balcony. The glass wall was nice as it gives us natural light. Airconditioning was all working well and it was not noisy. I have to move all the stuff that they placed on the table top just to make sure my son won't be breaking anything.

Terrace

Not all the rooms in this condominium building had a terrace so we were glad this room have one. It was facing the Waterfront Hotel and Casino. It also has a good view of the sunrise which I adored every single day. I even wake up pretty early the entire time before sunrise.

themedian2218 (21 of 38).jpg

From the terrace, we have a view of the pool at the 3rd floor. Looking down was a little scary! But I have a confession which I had thought of not telling my husband but my little one told him so I have to confess to him anyway.

I was thinking of flying the drone from the terrace. I had it on take off but while it was still on standby mode, it somehow detected the surrounding that it hit the wall at my back, I was not pressing anything but it was like it was avoiding the walls but for some reasons hit the other side and it dropped into the plants, just a few inches away from the terrace grills. I almost got a heart attack and decided not to fly it anymore, thankfully, the drone was all good.

The View

themedian2218 (22 of 38).jpg

This view of the city prompted me to fly the drone because why not? The view was just amazing and I thought it was a great content but after the incident, I decided not to fly it anymore. I did fly it our drone but at the 3rd floor near the pool but it was not also very successful as the wind was strong and the GPS signal was weak there.

themedian2218 (25 of 38).jpg

Here's the view of Lahug La Guardia Extension. Perhaps next time we will look for Airbnb units near IT Park.

themedian2218 (24 of 38).jpg

Work Station

This was actually the main reason why I got sold out with this unit! They have a work station with such a great view! Evening time was even better!

themedian2218 (11 of 38).jpg

This station is wide enough for me and my husband's laptops, we could fit in but there was only one chair provided. They got drawers too which I got to used too.

Swimming Pool

One good amenity that an Airbnb space could offer is the availability of a swimming pool! So when I found the building had one, we made sure to check it out. The pool can also be seen from our room just by looking down so my son was always asking me that we go and swim.

The pool has no lifeguard though and I believe the unit owners are aware of that already, so kids must be accompanied at all times. There's a logbook for those who are swimming, I filled up the logbook during our time of swimming too. I am glad that they are not strict in terms of using the amenities, I remember one of the Airbnb properties we booked somewhere in IT Park, there's an additional fee for those who will be swimming.

themedian2218 (6 of 41).jpg

It isn't that huge but it was enough. This place here was airy so when I flew my drone that day, GPS was weak and the drone was being driven by the wind so I didn't fly that high and just landed the drone instead, I do not want to I'll be crushing the drone again

Matti and I had so much fun swimming too although, there was no area where he could reach the floor as the pool was around three feet to five feet high. Still, he enjoyed it. There are lounges too available at the side and some interesting red chairs as well. Shower area is also available at the back side of the library.

themedian2218 (7 of 41).jpg

Library

themedian2218 (20 of 41).jpg

Speaking of the library, I am amazed at how nice their library is. I see only a few books and some decor available so I am sure this will be improved soon.

themedian2218 (21 of 41).jpg

themedian2218 (17 of 41).jpg

themedian2218 (12 of 41).jpg

Just next to the library is a game area but I guess it is still part of the library, not sure though why there was table tennis, I believe if home owners were playing here, it will be noisy for those who are in the library. There's also a provided free WIFI. I didn't try it but there was a QR code to scan to connect.

themedian2218 (11 of 41).jpg

themedian2218 (15 of 41).jpg

This part here looks aesthetic with the paper planes on the wall and the nice natural lighting that we took the opportunity to take some family photo here!

themedian2218 (24 of 41).jpg

themedian2218 (25 of 41).jpg

I recommend staying here because it's near to IT Park and the pricing for that specific unit that we booked was reasonable. If you are interested, you may check the listing here.
