My Life, Travels, and the Power of Sharing on Hive: Hi, I’m Jussy!

Hi! My name is Justine Monica M. Muertigue, but you can call me Jussy. I was born and raised in the Philippines. I live in Cebu, and my hometown is in the land of history. I am a degree holder and currently working in the corporate industry. My interest as of this moment is cooking. And I love to travel and try different types of cuisine. I like going on adventures with my friends, but I also enjoy “me time”. Because in your alone time, you’ll get to know yourself more, and you also have time to reflect. I am also a family-oriented person. I like spending my time with them so much. They have contributed a lot to who I am today. I would not be able to become confident and independent because of them and the lessons they taught me and all those words of wisdom they inspired me with.

Aside from the lessons I learned from my family, I really believe that experience is the best teacher, so I spend a lot of time traveling and learning about different kinds of cultures around my country and, hopefully, in other countries. I find it so interesting because you get to learn, and, at the same time, you discover more about yourself, and you become a better and bigger person because of those experiences you’ve encountered while traveling and meeting people. But it is not necessary to spend a lot on expensive places and fancy restaurants. Sometimes, you just have to enjoy the little things around your town and discover that your town has more to open. But if you have the means to experience outside your town or in other countries, as they say, the sky is the limit.

During my free time, I like to be productive. I enjoy outdoor activities because I love how the sun kisses my skin, so I go jogging and swimming, and before I worked in the city, my hobbies were biking and hiking. I always loved doing things that connect to nature. Sometimes I just go to the beach to do grounding because I believe it heals me for the things I don’t feel right about, for the things that some people would invalidate, and also for the things that should simply need healing. I love grounding myself in nature; it really feels safe and like home. Whenever I’m on the beach, sometimes I just find myself lying on the sand listening to the sounds of the waves. And there are times that I walk barefoot on the grass and there’s nothing more relaxing than these experiences.

I find it so interesting. It feels like a new hobby. Share what you love through pictures, and no one is going to judge you, so it's a safe environment. And in the world we have now, we have to adapt to change. Aside from being productive from outside our homes, we also need an outlet to let our passion and emotions be shared. I know there are so many platforms where we can share things we want people to see or read. But is it rare to find something like Hive that we can share all, or not all but most, of our experiences without being judged? Nowadays, people are quick to judge; even if it is just a single photo you share or quote you post, they really assume there's something negative about it. So as for me, it is so comforting to know that you have this kind of community where people support people.

What can I contribute? A good vibe through my experiences and photos that I would share from my travels. And the learning as well. Hopefully, I can motivate and inspire other people. I am so thrilled to try new things and visit new places, because I have a responsibility, a responsibility that I voluntarily do, because I want to share with you my experience and photos.

I am happy to know that this platform exists, and I’m so excited to be part of the community. Before I didn't know this, I always wondered if there was a platform where you could freely share experiences in a healthy environment, a detox from unhealthy social media. Good thing my colleague mentioned it to me; she had shared her experience and conducted a personal orientation with me. On our break, we did a one-on-one orientation where she excitingly shared her experience in Hive, how it helps her destress. And I can’t wait to share with you the highlights of the life I chose to live, and also maybe I will share my life growing up, the ups and downs I’ve encountered, the dreams that are slowly happening, and the surprises that life has to offer.
