Splinterlands: My Thoughts on the New Conclave Arcana Reward Set!

in Hive PHyesterday

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to another edition of Community Engagement Challenge! Today's topic is about the new Conclave Arcana rewards set. I wrote about it yesterday but I didn't go too much in detail. There were some points like how it affected lands and Conflicts that I didn't go into simply because I don't participate in those component of Splinterlands. Today, I'll dig deeper on the subject of the rewards set, how I think it will change the meta and what I'm looking forward to with the introduction of the new set.

43 New Cards!

There are forty three new cards in the reward set consisting of:

  • Twelve common cards
  • Twelve rare cards
  • Seven epic cards
  • Twelve legendary cards

I noticed that among the rarities, the epics have the least number among them. It's curious that the rarities are not distributed more evenly.

The standard foils are initially soul bound and can be unlocked by a new mechanism called unbinding scrolls. Meanwhile, Gold and Black Foils can immediately be transferred.

All reward cards are useful in battle but they cannot be used in land or Conflicts.

The soulbound cards can be unlocked by an item called Unbinding Scrolls. This item is good for the game since it's a new way to burn DEC and help stabilize the price of the token. It will also be a way to add new utility to land since it can be crafted using materials produced by lands.

What I'm Most Excited About the New Conclave Arcana Reward Cards

As a card collector and Splinterlands player, the new reward cards means more cards in my collection. I'm already satisfied with my Rebellion reward cards as I have upgraded them to competitive levels in the league I play in. Similarly, I'm joining brawls weekly to upgrade my Gladiator cards. I would have like to complete my collection of Frontier cards too but it will have to wait because the Conclave Arcana set will be my priority.

I'm expecting that the new cards will come with interesting combination of stats and abilities. I will have to discover new combos that will work in my battles. This will motivate me to do my daily battles and spend my energy daily in the hopes of completing my collection and upgrade them to my desired levels.

How the New Cards Will Change the Meta

I can still remember when melee was the meta with Malric Inferno as the archon of the Fire splinter. Then that changed when the Dice mini set came out with the Earth splinter's Mylor quickly becoming the favorite archon due to his Thorns ability. That ability completely countered the melee meta. Next came the Chaos Legion reward cards with Venari Wavesmith. The single card Venari Wavesmith provided an armor to the Water splinter. It changed the meta briefly to magic teams with Alric Stormbringer as archon together with magic units and the Wavesmith.

These changes in meta that accompanies new card releases is part of the fun of playing Splinterlands. Players should discover and devise new strategies and synergies based on the new cards stats and abilities. I would expect the same thing to happen when the new Conclave Arcana cards come out. The new stats and abilities of the new cards will change or define the meta for a period of time until new cards come out to counter them. I can't wait and I'm excited to collect the new cards and try new combos and strategies.

Final Thoughts

Splinterlands evolution accelerated this year, 2025. The changes included the introduction of a free to play version, Conclave Arcana set and Black Foils among others. The new set of reward cards brings fresh motivation and drive for players to collect and play. We will have fun finding new combos and synergies in our battles while increasing our deck. With each new development, I'm confident that Splinterlands will be sustainable and continue to thrive in the #play2earn space for years to come.

What a good amount of words for the article - 666. Must have been very lucky. I'm a bit sad that there won't be any more guaranteed gold foil draws, that was my favorite part about the last set of rewards. Now I just have to hope for luck myself to open the foils from chests and will have to pay to buy from others.

I'm still missing about 10 BCX of GFL to complete my GF set of Rebellion reward cards!

Thank you. I didn't notice the word count, it's too ominous 😅 I'm already happy with my Rebellion reward cards although I haven't maxed them. I got all the ones I most used to my desired levels. I'm already saving Glint for the next set.

Oh jeez, I'm so bad at saving Glint, but I'm good at burning for it. I have a complete max set of GF Rebellion common, rare, epic except for 2 units, 5 bcx. Does that mean I should just burn all my RF of those cards?

It never seems worth it to unstake and sell for MAYBE 10% profits. That is weak. Better to go full steam into the next set. I wish I had much more information about how Survival Mode would work in the future to properly judge how to handle my extra reward cards!
