Reminiscing My Practice Teaching Journey!👩‍🏫

Hello dear hivers, I am @marfeatures, and I am back with a new blog. How are you? I hope you are all doing well. For today's "blogserye" (blog series), I will be featuring my practice teaching journey way back when I was still in college. Come join me as I share here with you my experiences and how my teaching internship turned out.

I think it is timely to share this with you since it's the second and last semester for the academic year 2024-2025. My brother is also in his 4th year and is doing practice teaching at the moment. He always complains of doing such loads of daily lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, instructional materials, and other school forms necessary in the practice of teaching. He always says that it was tiring, but I'm glad he's doing his very best to finish his practice teaching.

Like I always told him, just complain but don't quit. As a college education student, especially when you are in your fourth year, you are required to take up practice teaching as a prerequisite course to be eligible for graduation. During my time, we were required to have our practice teaching both in public and private schools. That's why it's a daunting task, especially in adjusting to a new environment, new students with diverse attitudes, and a new mentor.

It was not that easy for me; it was indeed daunting, as I have said. I've been through many sleepless nights just to comply with the necessities in teaching, like making PowerPoint presentations and daily lesson plans. What's even more tiring is conceptualizing and generating ideas for instructional materials that exactly fit your topic. It was indeed exhausting; sometimes I just cried in silence for a moment, fixed myself, and taught like nothing happened. For me, practice teaching is really the determining factor as to whether you can answer the question: will I still teach after this?

My advice to everyone is, don't lose hope on things and explore the possibilities. Don't be too negative because as much as others can, you can. Don't ever doubt yourself; just take it one at a time and don't count the days; it will feel like a year. All you have to do is just enjoy what you are doing. Because sooner or later, those future graduation plans you have in mind will surely be realized. Life after graduation is another thing to discuss, hahahh; for the meantime, let's just focus on the teaching internship.

Fortunately, I have hurdled all the hurdles in practice teaching; now I really miss my students before. That's why I always chose to be a teacher; right now I'm an ESL teacher, and I'm working on my license, hopefully soon to be able to teach in DepEd or abroad if given a chance. I did it; I received my degree, and so you can too. For my golden tip, don't forget to ask the divine guidance of the Almighty God, for he will not forsake us.
