Appreciate all of life's beauty and express the deepest gratitude for all the abundance.

Have you thanked Mother Nature for all the abundance you enjoyed? From the shelter you lived on to the food you ate? If not yet, you should have to.😇

Hi there community friends, please join me as I share with you how Mother Earth's Bounty helps our family in terms of economy and health.

Last Saturday, early in the morning my husband went with friends to the sea to glean for shellfish. When he returned at about 9 a.m. he did bring a Telescope snails or Bagungon in Bisaya.

Bagongon is a type of snail that is commonly found in coastal areas and muddy estuaries. Its appearance is a spiral-shaped shell that resembles a miniature tower or telescope. Its color can range from light brown to dark greyish-brown with distinctive vertical stripes running along its length.

This sea shell is not just a delicious seafood delicacy but a very nutritious one. The following are the nutrients that we can get from this shell:

  • calories - fiber
  • protein - calcium
  • carbohydrates - iron
  • fat - magnesium
  • saturated fat - phosphorus
  • Potassium - zinc
  • vitamin B1

It is important to note that while Telescope Snails have health benefits, they also have side effects or disadvantages if overly consumed. The possible disadvantages are:

  • allergic reactions
  • high cholesterol
  • parasitic infection
  • heavy metal contamination

Bagongon can be prepared and consumed in various ways like by cooking (boiled, grilled, sautéed or stir-fried, stewed), drying, canning, or fermenting.

My husband doesn't like oily foods so he then prepared for a fresh sea shell stew for lunch. he cleaned the seashells by brushing off each of the shells. He then removed its spires using metal for the meat to be easily taken out when cooked and washed it again. It is now ready for cooking. Set aside.

And lastly is the bulb onion which can't be found in our garden so we. Just bought 1 bulb for 5 pesos or .088 USD.

Since all the ingredients are ready, it's cooking time.

A typical 'lutong bahay' dish by my husband. First, he boiled water, then he put the telescope snail and waited for 10 mins. Lastly, he put in the spices and seasonings, and it's done.

So for today's lunch, we only spent 5 pesos or .088 USD.
Now, let's dig in!😘

Because of nature's bounty, we did not only save money but we were able to have extra income instead, by selling some of the veggies and at the same time were able to eat fresh, delicious, and nutritious meals and achieve optimum health.

Thank you Mother Nature for providing us with all we need to have such a harvest.

We just have to be hardworking in cultivating Mother Nature.

yes po, madami dito sa amin. Di lang po ito, may ibang uri pa ng sea shell.
thank you po sa pag bisita.😇

I know what the taste of bagongon is. I like it more when it is cooked with coconut milk It tastes good. I ate many times a long time ago during my younger years. My mother cooked bagongon too. All the members of the family enjoyed eating the bagongon with soup. When eating the bagongon I remembered it is hard to get the meat. It takes time and needs a hard kiss of the shell before you can get the meat of the bagongon shell, then you can eat.
In Cebuano( sop-supon ang kinhason pag ayo aron makuha ang unod dayon makakaon.) meaning this type of shell is hard to get. But anyway I like to eat this shell even though it is complicated to eat because tastes delicious to me and it is good for our body many health benefits high in protein and makes our body healthy and wealthy. Thank you @nanayko for sharing these sea shells. I am delighted that life before it was hard. And it is getting better now. Thankful to God.❤️

Thank you for reading my blog. God bless!
