Reasons Why I Love Hive and D.Buzz

An interesting question to ask everyone is, what are the reasons why they love Hive and D.Buzz as one of its ecosystems? To start with the conversation, I think, I should be the first one to answer this question.

This is another introduction post for myself and one of the most important things I should share with my fellow Hivers and D.Buzz users.

I am so grateful to Hive and its community for the opportunity to learn from them and renew my career as a blogger even without spending a dime from my own pocket. This could be a long story for me to tell but please bear with me.

Who Am I:

My name is Ed Umbao in the online world, I am still using this name on my social media accounts such as Facebook and Twitter. It is also the name that I used when I co-founded PhilNews.ph with my friend before we parted ways to embark on new ventures.

I discovered Hive during the year 2019 when it was still part of a different chain. A close friend of mine Chris Rice (@chrisrice) introduce me to Hive. We haven't met yet in person since the time when he introduced me to that chain.

To cut a long story short, I was only able to publish at least two articles in 2019, and later on just this February 2023, I got some interest with Hive and tried to contact Chris once again which he gladly responded and shared to me the development they made regarding D.Buzz, a micro-blogging platform built on top of the Hive blockchain.

On Hive I used the username @philnews.xyz as what Chris suggested to me during the time when he first introduced me to the former blockchain.

The reason why I chose @philnews.xyz as a username is because it is also the name of the website that I owned but it is not a self-hosted blog. It is hosted by Google through its Blogger platform.

Background as Web 2.0 Blogger:

I started blogging through Wordpress.com during the year 2009 but in 2010, a former colleague introduced me to a self-hosted Wordpress blog and I started writing on December 24, 2010, on a website called QuotedNews.com. This site revolves around and becomes PhilNews.ph.

PhilNews Blogs.jpg
With PhilNews.ph Bloggers

PhilNews.ph is a brainchild of my programmer friend and myself, I am the one who is in charge of all the articles posted on that site. We also employed some international writers from India and Pakistan to write for us.

To cut a long story short, the website made some significant achievements in terms of reach, and search engine rankings and we are even featured in a local TV show in Bacolod some of our articles online were reported by the mainstream media and credited our site as one of their news sources.

As a former OFW, working online and earning the same amount of money does make sense aside from the fact that we were able to build a company out of it. Although the company is still standing today under new management and I went back to the province to enjoy married life.

The experience of working online was really worth the risk. Aside from PhilNews.ph, I was also doing some political blogs on the sideline during the year 2016. I founded PhilNews.xyz which is still standing today but I could not maintain it, due to time constraints and I was having my own day job.

Back to my story about the reasons why I really love Hive and D.Buzz. I could summarize it in a very simple way.

As a blogger by profession, It is really hard to start from scratch because you need to have an idea about how a website works, how to buy a domain, how to pay for the hosting, how to rank in search engines, and many more.

Introducing Hive through D.Buzz:

If you're a passionate writer, an aspiring blogger, or a vlogger, the first thing you need is a platform for you to use and put your trust into that platform and hope for a bright future and at the same time having some income online.

At first, you will surely be tempted to jump into it and join the bandwagon of content creators who put their trust into the platform without knowing that in just one click, all your accounts, all your followers, or all the hard work you made will just vanish instantly because you don't own the platform.

This is where the decentralized social media comes in through Hive. At first, it is indeed a complicated thing to navigate but once somebody from the community will guide you it is really a smooth sailing ride.

What is Hive:

According to the official website of this fastest-growing community-managed blockchain. Hive is an innovative and forward-looking decentralized blockchain and ecosystem.

Hive features fast transactions that take less than three (3) seconds. It's scalable because of future-proof resource bandwidth and storage systems.

This three-second transaction speed was even demonstrated by D.Buzz co-founder Nathan Senn (@nathansenn) during an event in Davao City wherein he talked about the Hive blockchain.

Hive is also powerful as it was already battle-tested for five (5) years by hundreds of apps, communities, and projects from different parts of the world.

What is D.Buzz:

D.Buzz is a micro-blogging platform that allows users to create accounts, and join conversations by posting their own content without censorship and all users are in control of their accounts.

The mission of the censorship-resistant platform D.Buzz is to promote freedom of speech and the rights of users, with a bit of help from blockchain technology.

It is built on top of the Hive blockchain and with D.Buzz users will get the freedom of speech and truly own their content and get improved content curation as well as fewer ads.

When joining the Hive blockchain, D.Buzz is also considered by many users as the easiest one to onboard because all you need is a verified mobile phone number and D.Buzz will serve as your gateway to the Hive blockchain ecosystem.

These are the Things I Love the Most About Hive:

What I love the most about Hive is the huge number of ecosystems that were built on top of them. There's a social app for communities, and general frontends such as Hive.blog, Peakd.com, and Ecency.com which are commonly used by bloggers.

There are communities and a selection of apps with their intended purposes such as for Game, there's Splinterlands, Rabona, Brewmaster, WOO, dCrobs, dCity, RisingStar, Hash Kings, Muterra, PsyberX, and King of Duels to name a few.

For the social media aspects, there's PeakD, Hive.blog, Ecency, LeoFinance, 3Speak, PinMapple, Liketu, D.Buzz, and TravelFeed.

There are also NFT, and Defi Apps as well as tools to be used by Hive users and the community.

The best thing about Hive is the fact that once you're posting into one platform it will then be visible to all the platforms within the Hive Ecosystem.

To know more about the Hive Ecosystem, try to read the article posted by @shadowspub last August 8, 2021, about the Hive Ecosystem, you will surely learn a lot from it.

How Hive and D.Buzz Impacted My Life as Blogger:

Meeting New Friends.jpg
Meeting New Friends in Davao City in Preparation for Mati City's FrolicBlock Event

This is the final statement so far from, how Hive and D.Buzz impacted my life as a blogger.

Although some people told me that I am already one of the veteran bloggers out there in terms of blogging after I was able to publish more than 12,000 articles in a self-hosted blog, I still considered myself a newbie in the Hive blockchain.

Since 2010 I have been writing various articles for a news website and even on other topics from different sites, it took us so many days, weeks, and months to actually break even from our efforts.

In short with the usual Web 2.0 platforms such as WordPress, Blogger, and others platforms it took us 3-6 months to earn an income through Google Adsense or through various advertising forms but in Hive it could only take a week or two and you will be able to witness that your post earned even cents in terms of dollars but the reality it does earn.

With Hive and D.Buzz, bloggers like me or aspiring writers, or anybody like me could just focus on content and what to post on Hive and not worry anymore about the hosting fees, the domain things the anxiety of things to come like being banned from any site or platform.

I think this is it for now, maybe I have done my part in explaining my own reasons why I love the Hive ecosystem, the micro-blogging site D.Buzz and the Hive community as a whole.

Thanks a lot for reading my stories, the experiences, and the lessons learned from other bloggers here in this community. I am glad that you reach the end of my story and I can assure you I will be more engaged with the community.

Please share your thoughts about Hive and how it impacted you by commenting on this post.

1M income through blogging grabe.. mapapa wow talaga Ako. Galing mo talaga magsulat.

Yes when we talk about earning Meron naman kahit papano.

Maraming Salamat @jenthoughts

Welcome, Ed! 💪

Not that I am a grammar fanatic, but I noticed that you used the word "loved", past tense. I hope Hive provides you with all of the Web3 tools that you might need and more. Now and into the future :)

@chrisrice is a great guy to know, because he too understands what a REAL Web3 product needs to include and offer. I use D.buzz myself for my micro-blogs and have seen it come a long way over the past year or so. I know Chris works super hard to ensure his products are top quality.

Hive has given us @Agorise a ton of great features that we can plug in to. We run servers, build (real!) Web3 apps (mobile and web) as well as write occasional blog posts about our product releases and religious beliefs.

If an app can be completely shut down by a government agent, then it's not Web3.

WELCOME TO HIVE!! ❤️ 🤠

Thank you for the warm welcome @kencode and the grammar suggestions. I believe that in the near future, people will really understand the importance of Web3 and they will surely join the bandwagon to support our cause of decentralizing every aspect of human society.

I am so grateful for people like you have been doing great for the good of the Hive community. You're such an inspiration to us who are just newbie to this Hive ecosystem.

Well for anything Web3 related, I'm here for you of course. I do hope people see the importance of using real Web3 tech though. Stop using that buzzword too unless they actually walk the walk, instead of just talking the talk. No more biased media either!
Peace and love, man! :)
#agorism #web3 #donoharm #PhilNews

Got it @kencode thank you for the assurance of guiding us. It's a pleasant thing that somebody up there helping us.

I was with @philnews.xyz in person a bit before you noticed the typo.

I briefly mentioned the word "loved" but we were eating so I was not more specific.

He plans on eventually creating #Podcasts, something I think he has done before, without knowing the term.

Its my first time to hear some of the blog websites that you mention..marami palang mga ibang blog platforms😂Now I know na..thabks for the info..

Thanks for the mention… glad you found the series helpful

Thanks, @shadowspub for the series I really found it helpful for us who are newcomers here on Hive. I am glad that there are so many helpful people I meet through this community.

Learned a lot from you, and it will serve as inspiration for me to study more about the Hive Ecosystem.
