I would compare Happiness with Investments. There is a short term and long term aspect of it; and money can buy/bring.
Here are examples
Using money to/for:
- buy material things- short term
- education - long term
- travel - both short and long term (i.e. divert you from problems but in return have good memories)
- people - short term. (you don't need money to 'invest' in people)
Weighing the short and long term benefits, one would know how to utilize money to gain happiness.
