Yet today, I want to share something that resonates who I am. It isn’t easy to search for the right words, but I’ll try my best, so you may know me better. I believe everyone carries a story worth telling, and this is my chance to tell you mine.
In this short introduction, I will try to share about my life, the things I love to do, and the lessons I have learned from my experiences. I want you to understand me not only by my name but also by the simple things that make me who I am. I know I am not perfect, but I have my own strengths and weaknesses that helped me grow.
Hello, my name is Marietta Mae, but I prefer to be called Mayie. I feel more comfortable with my nickname because my real name reminds me of things from my family’s past that were not always easy. Since high school, whenever we had to introduce ourselves, I would always tell my classmates that I wanted to be called by my nickname. It feels more like me and it makes me happy when people use it.
When I was fifteen years old, I started to enjoy writing. I am not a professional writer, but I find peace in writing. For me, writing is like a safe place where I can put down all the thoughts I cannot say out loud. Whenever I feel sad or have problems I cannot share with anyone, I write them instead. It helps me release my feelings and understand myself better.
People close to me often say that I am a good listener. They can share their problems and secrets with me because they know I can keep them. Some also say that I am avoidant, but in reality, I am just shy and find it hard to talk first. However, I can handle small talks and conversations well when people approach me.
I value friendship a lot because, for me, it is one of the most important things a person can have. Having someone you can trust, share your problems with, and not feel judged is very meaningful.
Some friends may leave my life because of certain reasons, but one thing is for sure, it is that I never fake who I am. I am always genuine, even when things are not easy for me.
My hobbies are reading and writing. I started reading books and e-books when I was in high school because I wanted to learn more words and gain more knowledge. I also used to write stories on Wattpad, but I never shared them because I was shy and afraid of being judged. One day, a friend found one of my stories and told me she liked it. She even asked me to continue writing. That made me happy, but I still did not focus on writing then because I had other priorities.
Now, I no longer feel ashamed of my writing. Instead, I enjoy it more because it makes me feel heard and understood. Writing helps me organize my thoughts and calm the chaos in my mind.
This is also the reason why I want to join Hive. I enjoy reading and writing, and I want to share my thoughts and daily experiences with others. Maybe some people will find my stories relatable and comforting. I also want to improve my writing by learning from others in the community.
Writing is never easy for me because it takes a lot of effort, but when I write something, it feels like I am writing in my own diary. There are no filters, no feeling of being judged, just me expressing my thoughts and sharing my ideas. I know my vocabulary may not be as wide as others, and it may even sound simple, but one thing is for sure, I write based on my experiences and on what comes to my mind. What I also enjoy about writing is that it makes me think. It makes me go into deep thinking, and that makes me excited because I believe it is healthy for people to think deeply and use their brain. It may sound funny, but that is really what I believe.
Right now, I am studying Bachelor of Science in Psychology at our City College. I chose this course because I grew up seeing people around me who struggled with their mental health. At first, it was difficult for me because I did not know much about the subject, and I was not sure if I was ready for the challenges. But with hard work and God’s help, I managed to continue, and now I am already in my third year. If things go well, I will be graduating next year.
This field has taught me to be more self aware and has helped me develop my character. Aside from its purpose of helping people who struggle with their mental health, it also helped me face my own battles and challenges in life. I know that some changes in me are because of puberty and maturity, but I can truly say that this course has taught me a lot.
It made me a better person than I was before. It helped me understand myself more, and it also helped me see why people act differently in certain situations. Because of that, my patience grew even more.
Understanding other people and what they are going through helps us become better persons. As they always say, kindness costs nothing. The same is true with understanding because sometimes people carry problems they never tell anyone. That is why they may act differently in some situations.
These are some of the reasons why I love my course and why I decided to continue pursuing it.
I learned about Hive from my friend @whosee. He was always busy writing, and I got curious, so I asked him what he was doing. He explained Hive to me and I found it very interesting because it was something new to me. I thought it was perfect for me since it combines the things I enjoy the most, which are reading and writing. That is why I decided to give it a try.
Aside from that, we also had an orientation led by @intoy.bugoy. He explained to us clearly how things work in Hive and guided us about the things that we need to understand as beginners. He is very well-spoken and friendly, and he made the orientation fun and easy to follow. It didn’t feel hard or boring because the way he talked made it simple for us to grasp. Thanks to him, we learned everything that we needed to know about Hive, and it made me even more excited to be part of it.
I will do my best to be active and consistent. I want to share my stories, thoughts, and even small experiences in a proper way because I believe that every post can be meaningful to someone. I will treat it as a privilege and not just something to pass time with. For me, Hive would be a great opportunity to express myself freely, connect with other people who also love reading and writing, and at the same time improve my skills.
I know that joining a community like this also comes with responsibility, so I will do my best to respect the platform and the people in it. I also want to learn from others, be inspired by their works, and hopefully inspire them too with mine.
To end my introduction, I want to say that I am Mayie. I am a student, a writer at heart, and a person who finds comfort in words. Writing has helped me through many challenges, and I want to use Hive to continue sharing my thoughts and experiences. I hope that my words can inspire and connect with others, just as writing has always inspired me.
In pens and ink, I hope to see you, dearest, in my soonest narrative!
Hi Mayie, welcome to Hive ✨.
Writing can really help people no, especially if you are doing it to breath and release all the negativities that's eating you. I never tried writing a diary before except that one we did in one of our Subject in college. It's also to practice our english na din. But I didn't really wrote serious matters in there coz in our house, I have no privacy and I don't want anyone to read it. But if only I have privacy at home, baka nag diary din ako, coz I have a lot of hatred in me coz of my family. It's a good way din kasi talaga to you know, reduce the heavy load na pasan pasan sa hearteuu.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy your stay have. Have fun exploring hive. And you like to read as well, so for sure maeenjoy mo iba't ibang article here, different topic yorn from travel blog to personal ganap sa life. Connecting and engaging with other other authors is more fun so do that too. Enjoyyyyy
Omg, yes! Journaling can really help us release those baggage that we're carrying talaga. I can vouch for that, yun kasi ginagawa ko sometimes when I feel like I can't handle the burden anymore — It's saddening to hear that you didn't had your privacy back then pero ganun talaga pag Asian parents haha!
Yes!! it's really fun. I'm still exploring sa mga communities here and their blogs are really fun to read talaga. Anyway, Thank you so much!! ❤️

Hi there Mayie! Welcome here in Hive. Reading your introduction reminds me a lot of myself because I am also quite an introverted person. Like you, people also see me as an avoidant person at times because I'm not really fond of talking to them, plus I'm a little picky about the people I chat with. I always believe that the people you welcome into your life reflect who you are, so I tend to be really keen on who I interact with, and also what you mentioned is one of my reasons...
Aside from being picky, I also have a little anxiety when it comes to talking with other people, and that I guess, makes me shy. I'm glad that people like us always find joy in writing and as well in this platform because I know not all platforms are writer-friendly. It's really nice that we find our common ground, and hopefully, you'll achieve your goal to improve your writing skills here. Again, welcome aboard, and don't be shy in interacting and exploring here in Hive!
Hi thank you so much for the warm welcome I can really relate to what you shared since I am also shy and careful with who I interact with It is nice to know that I am not alone in this and I am glad that writing gives us both a way to express ourselves I am looking forward to learning more here and connecting with people like you. ☺️

Hi @soulenne welcome to Hive. I'm @palomap3 from Lovesniper OCD team.
As a future psychologist, you will learn the power of expressing what we feel inside, whatever form that may take. I understand that happiness you feel when writing because I feel the same way; pouring out your emotions is therapeutic in itself. Here at Hive, you will also discover that you can help other people just by being yourself and telling us whatever you want. It has been lovely to meet you, Mayie. As you already have help from @whosee and @intoy.bugoy, I will leave you with some information and wish you luck.
