City High's First Foundation Day

in Hive PH2 years ago

Hello there Hiver's, a pleasant day to all! How have you all been this week?! I hope your days we're and will be filled with happiness! So last time, I shared a glimpse of how my weekend went. This time, I will be talking about one of my favorite moments from the previous year.

Playing outdoor games is one of the things I enjoy because it reminds me how precious my childhood is and how I crave to simply travel back in time to recreate those unforgettable moments in my life. These memories hold a special place within me because those happy times were one of the stepping stones that helped shape who I am today.

Growing up and becoming an adult feels like a tremendous obligation because we are expected to accomplish things that grownups typically do, which drives us to urge ourselves to perform better and remind ourselves that there is no space for our youthful deeds. As we mature, we'll quickly come to terms with the fact that we must fulfill our obligations in life and that we are no longer children or teenagers. Some others could even say, "Aren't you too old for this?" ' or 'You should be doing this and that.' as though having fun and being happy are forbidden.

It was last December 9, 2022, the day of our 1st Foundation Day at school. The City of Bogo Senior High School (CBSHS), formerly known as the City of Bogo Science and Arts Academy (CBSAA), celebrates its first anniversary with the theme "City High SOARS: Showing Outstanding Attributes and Recounting Stories."

The purpose of foundation day is to create fresh memories that may be recounted and recalled, as well as to reflect on the school's past explorations and successes. Fun and enduring activities were planned for the celebration by the Maharlika Organization. The banner raising, strand shout, singing contest, team-building activities, and Laro ng Lahi are the highlights. These exercises demonstrated the thrill, joy, and rivalry of each strand, and they are all worth remembering. Due to the setting and each student's desire to make this day feasible and successful, the morning and afternoon activities of the event turned out to be more interesting.

It was one of the best memories I collected last year. It was overflowing with unfathomable joy. It serves as our 'pahinga' (to rest or rest in English) from all the jumbled tasks we've been facing. An unprecedented reverse of the ticking clock, back to the time when we were all un-bothered to what the future holds. We engaged in games like sack races, palo sebo, capture the dragon's tail, and tug of war.

The sack race or potato sack race is a competitive game in which participants place both of their legs inside a sack or pillow case that reaches their waist or neck and hop forward from a starting point toward a finish line. The first person to cross the finish line is the winner of the race. Possible rule changes that people make to the traditional game include using extra large sacks and running inside the bag

Palo-sebo (from the Spanish stick/poase) is a traditional Filipino game. A local variant of the greasy pole, it is likely derived from the Spanish cucaña. This game is usually played by boys during a town fiesta or on special occasions in the various Provinces of the Philippines. Long and straight bamboo poles are polished and greased, after which a small bag containing the prize is tied to the top. The bag usually contains money, sweets, or toys. Sometimes a small flag is used instead of the actual prize, which is given to the winner afterward. Contestants try to climb the pole in turns to secure the prize, and anyone who fails to reach the top is disqualified. The winner is the one who succeeds in reaching and untying the prize or retrieving the flag.

Each team put their arms around the persons waist in front of them and are going to form a train. The person in the rear puts the handkerchief in the back pocket or puts in down their pants so that the handkerchief hanging out. The object of the game is for each dragon to move as one unit towards another dragon. They will try to catch the opposing teams handkerchief. They must do this without breaking the chain of people. Only the leader of the dragon may catch the handkerchief. When they catch the dragon’s handkerchief, they link up with the other dragon and continue to pursue other dragon’s, while protecting their own tail

Tug of War

Tug of war (also known as tug o' war, tug war, rope war, rope pulling, or tugging war) is a sport that pits two teams against each other in a test of strength: teams pull on opposite ends of a rope, with the goal being to bring the rope a certain distance in one direction against the force of the opposing team's pull.

Despite the muddy terrain owing to a sudden shower of rain it did not stop us to end the event.

Due to the tremendous power of their teammate, one member of our opponent even had her shirt torn while playing catch the dragon's tail.

It was exceedingly difficult to climb up the bamboo pole because it was so slippery , due to the oil wiped into it in order for the game to be more challenging. Every pole began acting strangely while the game was still in progress. Even though there were only three players on each squad, players from every group began lending a hand and holding onto the bamboo pole to prevent it from falling to the ground. When the males were unable to climb the pole, the girls volunteered to try, which sparked competition and a sense of camaraderie. It was so close yet so far. The game ended with the other team succeeded in retrieving the flag.

It was such a special moment that I will always treasure since it was not just a simple recollection. It was the catalyst for the emergence of an unexpected relationship.

Heidi Klum once said, "You shouldn't wait for other people to make wonderful things happen. You have to create your own memories." Together, the Ka-City High was able to create an experience they can reminisce years from now.

Sad thing is that I have never taken part in such activities because I was always a bit shy in my childhood. But yeah, I have enjoyed watching them play, you have brought back those memories of mine.

You can still have fun and engage in these activities. Age doesn't matter as long as you're having fun.😊
Go for it!!!

If I get any opportunity to take part, maybe tug of war or sack race, the rest of them (climbing ones) are not my cup of tea in any way, hehe.

What a fun day! I'm so glad they had such a great time! I totally agree with the end of your post! Hope you keep creating good times ✔️💯.

The same goes to you too @schiogonzalez !😊

I could still remember my high school days. I love playing especially the dragon's tail. It was so tiresome, but it was really fun.

Lets play dragon's tail nya mads LOL😆

How I wish may ganto ding ganap sa school namin hahaha. I commend all of the participants of palo sebo because climbing up in a greasy pole is very difficult! Plus the fact that they step on each other shoulder para lang maabot yung top. Gosh, my spine could never 😂.

I also like the fact that everyone is game to join the event even though their clothes will get dirty. Walang KJ

!PIZZA

Got stepped on my shoulder that time LOL
Thank goodness the person who stepped on me was light-weight; otherwise, I would have had a sore shoulder for days or maybe a week. Lmao😆

And yes, super walang KJ 😊

Wow, kalingaw.
Even at my age I still like to play games like that.
It's a stress reliever. ☺️

Yes super lingaw jud ma'am 😊

Foundation day brings lot of fun! I miss my college days😶.

Highschool days and college days, contains the best memories!😊
