I am a very sporadic artist. There are things I love to do but never practice or play enough to truly feel I can say 'I do art'. But as the years go by and I continue to play more than practice, I can see that it is what you think. Meaning, I can think I'm not an artist and still love the little bits of art I make for myself. They bring me joy and that is the goal!
Even this simple study of variations in color and basic shapes can bring a smile to my face.

It was a good first day of the art retreat, but things start to get messy when projects start to pile up and new skills are added.
I mean, take a look at my space just yesterday!

I was in the middle of a day of virtual art classes. One class right after the other, no time to clean up. Classes are mostly recorded and played, as 30-60 minute time spots, no time to stop and gather your thoughts so you just go. You just do.
This is the third 'Creative Retreat' I've done online. There was one that was a week long I think and that got me hooked. The second one was 2 weeks long! I took time off of work, I bought snacks and I paid for the lifetime access to all the classes.
I mean, if someone can teach me how to draw this, without the advantage of getting realtime feedback...I had to face facts that I had tapped into something amazing!
Keep in mind, I am not bragging about how awesome this drawing is. I am merely enjoying my own little victory of going from not drawing very well, to finally making something look like what I wanted it to look like!
But getting back to the current classes I am involved in, yesterday was fun! I had about 4 or 5 classes I wanted to take and they were of course one right after the other.
The first was a watercolor collage, in which we started off by making a whole page of colors that we would cut up into flower parts.

Not letting the blue bit dry fully made for quite a mess. The first of many for the day.

Yesterday was a lot of lettering which is more of a love of mine. I do still consider it art though, I hope you do as well.
This was a piece I did the day before though, as yesterday's stuff was following my very messy theme and not worth sharing.
My word collage from Thursday is much more inspirational, I think.

Never stop learning. Never stop trying new things. Never give up on art.
I'm so excited for your continuing adventure, keep going you're already an artist now you're just spreading your wings :)
