Hair in drawing can elevate an image massively. Now if you get it wrong I don't think it will mess up a drawing because other parts of a portrait can be more critical like the eyes. However if you get hair right in a portrait it will make the portrait look absolutely amazing.
Hair has the ability to frame an face, to accentuate a character and to add color. Therefore I try to do a good job when drawing hair. This image is an excellent example of that. The reference photo has got excellent flowing yet tussled hair which look good. In this practice piece I tried to capture some of that flow rather than the roughness.
All in all, this drawing turned out okay, but as always I need more practice.

Awesome video, and explaining what you done with the hair. I was never much of a portrait illustrator, graphics, cartoons, and animals are usually my jam. I should practice more with portraits. I just got my ipad pro 2020 with the pencil 2, this past week, I'm new to procreate, picking it up rather quickly. Its pretty powerful and the apple pencil is hella fast. I should of got this thing a long time ago. i been using an xp pen tablet, which was great until it started having calibration issues. Hope to see more from you, especially in procreate that be neat. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the community!! 😀🔥👍
