En la historia del béisbol, los jugadores siempre han buscado la forma para mejorar su rendimiento, la gran mayoría mediante entrenamiento, que es la forma adecuada para obtener mejores resultados, mientras que, alguno que otro pelotero, mediante el uso de sustancias prohibidas (entendiendo por sustancias prohibidas, el uso de sustancias que mejoran la capacidad de un atleta) y es conocido en el mundo de las grandes ligas como doping.

La MLB, a partir del año 1991 prohibió el uso de esteroides, motivado al abuso que existía por parte de los jugadores, en cuanto al uso de esta sustancia, y a partir de la temporada del 2004, se comenzaron a implementar sanciones a los jugares que utilizaran alguna sustancia prohibida, y aplicaba de manera progresiva, con una suspensión de diez (10) juegos por el primer resultado positivo al uso de sustancias, en la segunda ocasión treinta (30) juegos, en la tercera sesenta (60) juegos, y la máxima sanción correspondía a un año de suspensión.

Las sanciones por el uso de sustancias prohibidas, se fue modificando con el pasar de los años, a partir del año 2014, las sanciones son mucho más estrictas, y hablando en términos de béisbol, sólo te permite 3 strike, comenzando con una sanción de ochenta (80) partidos, por ser la primera vez que da positivo, siento sesenta y dos (162) el segundo positivo, y suspensión de por vida en un tercer positivo, recibiendo un ponche en la MLB, debido al uso de sustancias prohibidas.
The penalties for the use of banned substances, was modified over the years, from the year 2014, the penalties are much stricter, and speaking in baseball terms, only allows you 3 strike, starting with a sanction of eighty (80) games, for being the first time positive, I feel sixty-two (162) the second positive, and lifetime suspension on a third positive, receiving a strikeout in the MLB, due to the use of banned substances.
Uno de los casos más recientes, es el del segunda base de los Mets de New York, quien dio positivo por Stanozolol (sustancia que mejora el rendimiento), siendo un caso de reincidencia (segunda vez que da positivo) y según las sanciones establecidas, las cuales mencioné en el párrafo anterior, le correspondieron siento sesenta y dos (162) juegos de suspensión, colocándolo en dos (2) strike en la MLB.
One of the most recent cases, is that of the second baseman of the New York Mets, who tested positive for Stanozolol (performance enhancing substance), being a case of recidivism (second time positive) and according to the established sanctions, which I mentioned in the previous paragraph, he received a sixty-two (162) game suspension, placing him on two (2) strikes in the MLB.

Recientemente leí una notica, que me llamó poderosamente la atención para escribir sobre este tema, y fue la suspensión por ochenta (80) juegos del lanzador Gregory Santos, quien en la actualidad, se desempeñaba en la Triple-A Sacramento, formaba parte del roster de 40 jugadores de los Gigantes de San Francisco, debido al uso de Stanozolol (sustancia para mejorar el rendimiento).
Recently I read a news, which called my attention to write about this topic, and it was the suspension for eighty (80) games of pitcher Gregory Santos, who was currently playing in Triple-A Sacramento, was part of the roster of 40 players of the San Francisco Giants, due to the use of Stanozolol (performance-enhancing substance).
Los beisbolistas que utilizan este tipo de sustancias, lo hacen por el deseo de ser mejores, pero hacer trampa nunca resulta bien, el caso de Gregory Santos, lanzador en la triple-A, utilizando sustancias prohibidas con la finalidad de mejorar su rendimiento, y ser ascendido a las grandes ligas, terminó en malas noticias para el lanzador, dejando el primer strike en su expediente deportivo dentro de la MLB.
Baseball players who use these types of substances do so out of a desire to be better, but cheating never turns out well, the case of Gregory Santos, a pitcher in triple-A, using banned substances in order to improve his performance and be promoted to the big leagues, ended in bad news for the pitcher, leaving the first strike on his MLB sports record.
