En determinadas ocasiones, me pongo a pensar, que tendrá de malo, por así decirlo, complicarse miserablemente la vida. A veces yo pienso que hasta lo hacen a propósito porque cómo puede ser que siempre tengamos que poner las cosas difíciles, cuando la vida, nos la pone fácil. Cuando llegará el torneo en el que nosotros logremos pasear ampliamente sin tener que pasar trabajo.
Así pasa cada vez que jugamos un evento internacional, nos complicamos la vida porque queremos. En mi última entrega en la comunidad, contaba que teníamos el Mundial Sub-23 bien de cerca, ahora cada vez más se aleja, entonces me da por pensar, que mal habremos hecho nosotros para merecer esto.
Caímos 7-2 ante una Panamá que aprovechó cada detalle y brecha que les dejamos para dar la clarinada. Ahora ellos jugarán el Mundial, y nosotros nos la tenemos que jugar el todo por el todo contra México, que no es ningún pan ni mucho menos.
Tanto nos cuesta ganar el partido bueno, ese partido que marca un break entre una fase del torneo y otra, ese partido que significa algo. Llevo años, esperando ganar un partido bueno y siempre siempre nos quedamos atrás. Me da hasta vergüenza hablar de esto porque es algo doloroso lo que pasa con mi selección.
Prefiero no hablar del juego, quisiera más hacer un llamado a la autocrítica. Cómo puede ser que un lanzador que ha sido abridor en el equipo grande, que esté hace 3 años en Japón sin subir al primer equipo, no pueda lanzar 7 entradas en un evento, porque tampoco en el debut llegó a las 5 entradas.
No debe ser así, y me duele en el alma que así suceda. Las palmas se las merece el bateador santiaguero Raider Sánchez, que ha tenido una estabilidad muy buena al bate a lo largo del torneo, incluso en el partido ante los canaleros, pegó jonrón, empujando las unicas dos rayitas de los cubanos.
Creo que a México se le puede ganar, pero sería un fracaso con todas las letras caer ante los mexicanos, después que estos no pudieron fabricarle carreras a un pitcheo al que nosotros le hicimos 5 como el de Puerto Rico.
Pero soy optimista y creo que los nuestros saldrán a darlo el todo por el todo frente a los centroamericanos. Desde aquí le doy mi más sincero apoyo a los peloteros cubanos que estoy seguro se dejarán la vida en ese juego y logren clasificar al Mundial.

So I can't help but wonder what wrong we must have done to deserve this.
We lost 7-2 to a Panama team that exploited every detail and gap we left open to signal their victory. Now they will play in the World Cup, and we have to go all out against Mexico, which is no easy task. Why is it so hard for us to win that crucial game, the one that marks a break between one phase of the tournament and another, the game that means something? I have been waiting for years to win a significant game, and we always seem to fall short. It makes me feel embarrassed to talk about this because what is happening with my national team is painful.
I prefer not to discuss the game; I would rather make a call for self-criticism. How is it possible that a pitcher who has been a starter on the major league team, who has been in Japan for three years without making it to the first team, cannot pitch 7 innings in an event, especially since he didn’t even reach 5 innings in his debut? It shouldn't be like this, and it pains my soul that it is. The applause should go to the Santiago batter Raider Sánchez, who has shown excellent stability at bat throughout the tournament; he even hit a home run in the game against the Panamanians, driving in the only two runs for Cuba.
