La Federación Internacional de Fútbol Asociado (F.I.F.A.), publicó ayer en Suiza la actualización de su no tan preciso ranking, luego de la culminación de la Eurocopa y de la Copa América. Avances y retrocesos mediaron en los movimientos de la tabla, de acuerdo al resultado desempeñado por cada equipo en los torneos referidos. En adelante, las variaciones serán dadas únicamente por las victorias, empates o derrotas obtenidos por los conjuntos en las eliminatorias al mundial 2026 a jugarse en México, Canadá y Estados Unidos.
Más allá de los avances en la clasificación, quiero hacer una comparativa entre el ranking y el actual lugar en las eliminatorias sudamericanas de la vinotinto, además de desarrollar nuestra opinión sobre las posibilidades del equipo venezolano. La Argentina de Scaloni comanda sin despeinarse el primer lugar de ambas clasificaciones y no parece que esto vaya a cambiar en el corto plazo ¿La razón? La profundidad de la banca, además de la calidad de sus titulares. Pueden tranquilamente armar un equipo competidor con cualquiera de los suplentes. No veo como puedan fallar en su camino al mundial.

Y ¿cómo queda la vinotinto? Venezuela se encuentra en el cuarto lugar de la eliminatoria y de sextos en el ranking FIFA (hablamos dentro de los conjuntos CONMEBOL). Esto del ranking de la FIFA hace rato que no lo entiendo, por más que expliquen que el número de la selección se ubica por la actuación de los equipos en las competiciones, lo que hacen las selecciones de edades inferiores más otros parámetros realmente no lo entiendo. El caso más llamativo es el de Brasil que está en un quinto lugar mundial que es totalmente falso pq su actualidad futbolística dice todo lo contrario.

Asocian victorias con puntos que suman, derrotas con puntos que restan y los empates dependen de la posición de los oponentes en el ranking. Si su equipo tiene mejor ranking que el equipo oponente y éste le empata, resta puntos a su ranking; por el contrario Si su equipo tiene menos ranking que aquel conjunto con el que usted empata, pues, suma puntos a su ranking.
Así las cosas, otras variables son tomadas en cuenta, como la localía o si anda de gira.
