La carrera que presenciamos el día de ayer venía con muchas expectativas después de haber visto el nefasto premio de Suzuka en Japón, todos esperábamos que tuviera un poco más de color y de acción y la verdad eso fue lo que terminó pasando. De las cuatro carreras que lleva la temporada ésta sin dudas ha sido la mejor y con mucha diferencia; la pista de este circuito junto con su clima son muy demandantes para las gomas por lo que había que tener mucho cuidado con ellas y por tanto escoger la estrategia adecuada, al final de esto se trató todo el fin de semana.
The race we witnessed yesterday came with high expectations after having seen the disastrous Suzuka race in Japan, we all expected it to have a little more color and action and the truth is that's what ended up happening. Of the four races of the season, this was undoubtedly the best and by far; the track of this circuit along with its weather are very demanding for the tires so we had to be very careful with them and therefore choose the right strategy, in the end this is what the whole weekend was about.
¿Cuál era entonces la fórmula a seguir? - lo interesante de esto es que hubo mucha diversidad a la hora de elegir, hubo equipos que salieron con gomas medias mientras que la gran mayoría hizo lo propio con las blandas por aquello de que en la pole position tal parece que rindieron bastante bien. Al final de todo fueron las gomas amarillas, las medias, las que terminaron funcionando mejor por un tema de agarre y durabilidad. ¿Las peores? - las duras ya que no habían sido probadas durante todos el fin de semana por lo que los pilotos que las usaron, Verstappen fue uno, sufrieron bastante en pista. Creería que los monoplazas no estaban configurados para tal neumáticos, de ahí la caída del rendimiento.
So what was the formula to follow? - The interesting thing about this is that there was a lot of diversity when it came to the choice, there were teams that went out with medium tires while the vast majority did the same with the soft ones because they seemed to perform quite well in the pole position. At the end of the day, it was the yellow tires, the medium ones, which ended up working better due to grip and durability. The worst? - The hard ones as they had not been tested during the whole weekend so the drivers who used them, Verstappen was one of them, suffered quite a lot on track. I would think that the cars were not set up for such tires, hence the drop in performance.

La pole position de los sábados ya nos decía lo que podía pasar el domingo. Un Piastri corriendo muy bien, incluso mejor que su compañero Norris; unos Mercedes que sigue demostrando cosas buenas, sobretodo Antonelli que me ha sorprendido mucho en este inicio de temporada; los Ferrari que también están como al acecho siempre pero sin terminar de dar el golpe final y los Red Bull que siguen teniendo problemas. El fin de semana del campeón mundial fue para el olvido, muchos problemas en su carro sobretodo con los frenos. Si RB está sumando es gracias a lo buen piloto que es Max porque ese monoplaza no está al nivel de otros equipos como McLaren, Ferrari y la misma Mercedes.
Saturday's pole position already told us what could happen on Sunday. A Piastri running very well, even better than his teammate Norris; a Mercedes that continues to show good things, especially Antonelli who has surprised me a lot at the beginning of the season; the Ferrari that are also always on the lookout but without giving the final blow and the Red Bull that continue to have problems. The weekend of the world champion was to forget, many problems in his car especially with the brakes. If RB is adding up it is thanks to the good driver Max is because that car is not at the level of other teams like McLaren, Ferrari and Mercedes itself.
Como dije, la carrera fue bastante buena y entretenida y las razones de eso fueron varias. La primera es que pilotos como Norris y Verstappen salieron de 6 y 7 respectivamente por lo que a juro los íbamos a ver buscar adelantar posiciones. La segunda es que al salir con gomas blandas iban a tener que hacer paradas en pits tempranas, esto siempre da juego a las estrategias ya que hubo otros, los Ferrari por ejemplo, que salieron con medias y que por el contrario al resto tratarían de alargar lo más posible esa entrada a pits. El gran detalle es que desde la misma partida ya se notaría esa diferencia con Leclerc quien salió de segundo y que en apenas la primera vuelta terminó cuarto. Salir con blandas aseguraba conseguir cierta ventaja, el error de Ferrari fue darle al monegasco gomas medias estando tan adelante.
As I said, the race was quite good and entertaining and the reasons for that were several. The first one is that drivers like Norris and Verstappen started from 6th and 7th respectively, so I swear we were going to see them trying to overtake positions. The second is that by starting with soft tires they were going to have to make early pit stops, this always gives play to the strategies since there were others, Ferrari for example, who started with socks and on the contrary to the rest would try to extend as much as possible that entrance to the pits. The great detail is that from the very start, the difference with Leclerc, who started second and in just the first lap finished fourth, was already noticeable. Starting with soft tires ensured a certain advantage, Ferrari's mistake was to give the Monegasque driver medium tires when he was so far ahead.

Toda la carrera fue super llamativa, muchos cambios de posiciones, nunca hubo un piloto que marcara una gran diferencia, hasta las últimas vueltas hubo batalla en este caso entre Russell y Norris por la segunda plaza incluso al punto de que la llegada de Piastri a la meta no la mostraron por quedarse con esa lucha lo que me pareció una falta de respeto. Al final el australiano ganó de una manera muy cómoda y contundente su segunda carrera del año, nunca peligró su liderato. Russell tiene mucho mérito también porque tuvo varios problemas técnicos con el auto y aún así supo mantenerse y terminar en el podio mientras que Lando después de haber salido de sexto terminó en la tercera plaza.
The whole race was super flashy, many changes of positions, there was never a driver who made a big difference, until the last laps there was a battle in this case between Russell and Norris for second place even to the point that the arrival of Piastri to the finish line was not shown to stay with that fight which seemed to me a lack of respect. In the end the Australian won in a very comfortable and convincing way his second race of the year, never endangered his leadership. Russell also has a lot of merit because he had several technical problems with the car and even so he was able to hold on and finish on the podium while Lando, after having started from sixth, finished in third place.
Decepciones. Leclerc, salir de segundo y terminar de cuarto no estaba en los planes, mala estrategia de los italianos, otra vez. Tsunoda sigue sin responder a pesar de haber punteado, apenas ganó una posición terminando de noveno; y cierro con Antonelli que no se entiende que hizo Mercedes poniéndole dos veces gomas blandas para terminar la carrera, se sabía que iba a terminar exigido, lo hizo en la plaza 11. Estos resultados hacen que los primeros cuatro pilotos que luchan por el campeonato apenas están separados por 14 puntos: NOR-PIA-VER-RUS. Los Haas sumaron por partida doble y Alpine sumó sus primero puntos gracias a Gasly. La Fórmula 1 está muy pareja, como no se había visto antes, esto sin duda es muy bueno para todos. Nos vemos en Jeddah este próximo fin de semana.
