Por la vigésima tercera jornada de La Liga de España, se llevó a cabo el primer Derby de la ciudad de Madrid en el 2025; en el estadio El Bernabéu, el Real Madrid recibió a su vecino rival el Atlético de Madrid, en esta nueva disputa la cual era muy relevante porque quien saliera victorioso pudiera alejarse en el liderato o ser el nuevo líder.
Este Derby en particular me hizo crear grandes expectativas porque ambos clubes madrileños están tanto en el primer como el segundo puesto de la clasificación en La Liga; la diferencia de tan solo un punto entre estos clubes género una gran presión lo cual fue aumentado por toda la polémica arbitral que cubrió la prensa deportiva española en la última semana y lo cual por supuesto no estaba del todo de acuerdo a pesar de que de en mi opinión el arbitraje español es del peor de todo el mundo, pero eso no evitaba que tubería las ganas de ver un buen y dinámico encuentro de fútbol sabiendo la importancia de este encuentro en donde existe una directa lucha por el liderato.
For the twenty-third round of La Liga in Spain, the first Derby of the city of Madrid in 2025 took place; in the Bernabeu stadium, Real Madrid received its neighboring rival Atletico Madrid, in this new dispute which was very relevant because whoever came out victorious could move away in the lead or become the new leader.
This particular Derby made me create great expectations because both Madrid clubs are in both first and second place in the standings in La Liga; the difference of only one point between these clubs generated a great pressure which was increased by all the refereeing controversy that covered the Spanish sports press in the last week and which of course I did not fully agree even though in my opinion the Spanish refereeing is the worst in the world, but that did not prevent me from piping the desire to see a good and dynamic soccer match knowing the importance of this match where there is a direct fight for the lead.
El encuentro se prestaba para ser un Derby divertido, una lucha de estilos, algo que debería ser una alegría para el aficionado al fútbol, pero la realidad es que todo el tema arbitral de la última semana opacó lo referente a que tipo de juegos se vería en un nuevo enfrentamiento entre estos dos equipos, justamente me hizo pensar que se creó una presión que no sumaria más al espectáculo, sino todo lo contrario, ya que todo estaría relacionado con el trabajo arbitral, esperando a quien favorecía o.a quien perjudicaría; esto en sí, fue lo que creo que influyó en el primer tiempo del Derby, porque ambos equipos fueron precavidos aunque con ideas estables para intentar jugar bien al fútbol.
Un ejemplo era la igualdad en el estilo de juego de ambos equipos en dónde se prefería jugar por las bandas, usando a centrocampista y sus laterales, muy bien abiertos lo cual genera un mano a mano entre atacantes y centrales; imagino que esa idea de ambos entrenadores estaba para enfrentar a rápidos atacantes contra improvisados y jóvenes defensores, eso en el caso del Atlético de Madrid; ahora con el Real Madrid, la idea era usar la velocidad de Vinicius junto a Mbappé para atacar a Giménez y Lenglet quienes eran la pareja de centrales del club colchonero; eso junto al uso de los laterales como interiores apoyados por el doble pivote de Valverde y Ceballos generaba un balance defensivo que por mucho tiempo fue efectivo.
The match was lent to be a fun Derby, a fight of styles, something that should be a joy for the soccer fan, but the reality is that the whole refereeing issue of the last week overshadowed what kind of games would be seen in a new confrontation between these two teams, just made me think that it created a pressure that would not add more to the show, but quite the opposite, since everything would be related to the refereeing work, waiting for who favored or.Who would harm; this in itself, was what I think influenced the first half of the Derby, because both teams were cautious although with stable ideas to try to play good soccer.
An example was the equality in the style of play of both teams where they preferred to play on the flanks, using midfielders and their fullbacks, wide open which generates a one on one between attackers and center backs; I imagine that this idea of both coaches was to face fast attackers against improvised and young defenders, that in the case of Atletico Madrid; now with Real Madrid, the idea was to use the speed of Vinicius together with Mbappé to attack Giménez and Lenglet who were the center-back pairing of the colchonero club; that together with the use of the full-backs as interiors supported by the double pivot of Valverde and Ceballos generated a defensive balance that for a long time was effective.
El problema con el sistema defensivo del Real Madrid con una presión alta, era que cuando el Atleti superaba esa presión, lo cual para ser sincero ocurrió en una sola ocasión y para suerte del equipo de Simeone, en esa única jugada en el primer tiempo, se generó el primer penal que se ha señalado al Real Madrid en toda la temporada, lo cual crea la estadística de 10 penales a favor y tan solo uno en contra; un penal que la sanción pudo generar polémica, pero para mí fue una correcta sanción desde el VAR, esto es un factor a apuntar porque sin el uso del vídeo, ese penal no se hubiera sancionado.
El segundo tiempo es donde el Derby me pareció decepcionante, no porque el Real Madrid empatara el encuentro de manera rápida, sino por justamente se genera esa jugada del empate; todavía sigo pensando el porqué Simeone decide que su equipo juegue tan atrás, una doble línea de cuatro la cual nunca fue ordenada y demostrando poca concentración y convicción en la defensa; esa mala decisión le dio vitalidad a un Real Madrid que por momentos me hizo pensar que arrasaría con su rival y es que Oblak tuvo que demostrar un alto nivel para contrarrestar el ataque de los merengues y es ahí en donde el Real Madrid se desinfla al no poder anotar otro gol más, en esto culpo a los jugadores que no respaldaron la idea de su entrenador y se impulsaron a explotar las individuales lo cual creo que fue favoreciendo el trabajo defensivo del Cholo.
The problem with Real Madrid's defensive system with high pressure, was that when Atleti overcame that pressure, which to be honest happened on only one occasion and to the luck of Simeone's team, in that one play in the first half, the first penalty that has been signaled to Real Madrid all season was generated, which creates the statistic of 10 penalties in favor and only one against; a penalty that the sanction could generate controversy, but for me it was a correct sanction from the VAR, this is a factor to point out because without the use of the video, that penalty would not have been sanctioned.
The second half is where the Derby seemed disappointing to me, not because Real Madrid tied the game quickly, but precisely because that play of the tie was generated; I am still thinking why Simeone decided to play his team so far back, a double line of four which was never ordered and showing little concentration and conviction in defense; That bad decision gave vitality to a Real Madrid that at times made me think that they would sweep away their rival and Oblak had to demonstrate a high level to counter the attack of the Merengues and that is where Real Madrid deflates by not being able to score another goal, in this I blame the players who did not support the idea of their coach and were driven to exploit the individual which I think was favoring the defensive work of Cholo.
El empate a un gol mantiene la diferencia de un solo punto entre estos dos clubes de Madrid y por supuesto mantiene como líder al club blanco, pero no deja de ser un mal resultado para ambos, en especial para el Real porque han sumado un punto en los dos últimos partidos y por el calendario que deben enfrentar en los próximos días, posiblemente seguirán experimentando más desgaste físico; eso también le sucede al Atleti, club que pudo recuperar el liderato, crear más problemas a sus vecinos, pero creo que decidió dar aire a un duro rival y eso me parece decepcionante, porque a pesar de que falta encuentros por disputar, es mejor siempre tomar ventaja de las oportunidades brindadas y ambos equipos sucumben a malos árbitros, a la polémica y a la equivocación por parte de un entrenador y por parte de jugadores.
The one-goal draw keeps the difference of only one point between these two clubs in Madrid and of course keeps the white club as leader, but it is still a bad result for both, especially for Real because they have taken a point in the last two games and because of the schedule they have to face in the coming days, possibly they will continue to experience more physical wear; This also happens to Atleti, a club that could recover the leadership, create more problems to their neighbors, but I think they decided to give air to a tough rival and I find that disappointing, because even though there are still matches to play, it is always better to take advantage of the opportunities given and both teams succumb to bad referees, to the controversy and the mistake by a coach and by players.
