Tres años han pasado desde la última final de Copa del Rey disputada por el Athletic, equipo el cual es el segundo máximo ganador de dicha competición, aunque han pasado 40 años desde la última vez que levantaron el segundo título de importancia en el fútbol español. En esta temporada en particularidad, el equipo dirigido por Ernesto Valverde, ha conseguido hacerse muy fuerte de local y con victorias contundentes contra otros equipos como Alavés, FC Barcelona y Atlético de Madrid, nuevamente tienen la posibilidad de no solo obtener un título, sino de consolidar un puesto en la próxima temporada en la UEFA Europa League.

Lo realizado en el encuentro de vuelta por el club bilbaíno, fue algo para admirar y eso es porque doblegó desde comienzo hasta el final, a uno de los clubes que tiene como definición el ser aguerridos y peligrosos en la presión y defensa, pero esas características estuvieron completamente ausentes y fue el club local quien pudo dominar por completo a su rival de turno; el equipo dirigió por Valverde supo aprovechar las bajas de jugadores tanto en ataque como en el medio campo del Atleti para imponer una genial idea en qué los hermanos Williams impongan su ley en el campo de juego; en esta parte me enfocaré a como Valverde paró a sus cuatro jugadores de ataque; primeramente se formó una línea de 3 jugadores en dónde los extremos estaban los hermanos Williams, aprovechando su velocidad y agilidad para el ataque; entre ellos estaba Oihan Sancet, el cual cumpliría la función de enganche y lanzador para sus dos compañeros; delante de ellos estaban como único centro atacante, Gorka Guruzeta, un señuelo perfecto, pero igual de peligroso en ataque, entre estos cuatro jugadores, con velocidad, precisión e inteligencia doblegaron el sistema defensivo del Cholo Simeone.

Si alabo la idea de Valverde sobre cómo manejó el ataque para este encuentro, es imposible no criticar el mal planteamiento de Simeone y la poca o nula actitud de sus jugadores; anteriormente en ciertos encuentros he visto como la línea de tres defensores y dos carrileros ha funcionado muy bien para el Cholo y su equipo, pero en esta oportunidad y claramente no enseñaron su mejor versión, posiblemente al no contar con Giménez, se les hizo difícil mantener un orden o un líder en esa zona, pero el desempeño de Hermoso, Witsel y Savic, fue lamentable, a eso, sumo el de Molina y Nilo que nunca, léase bien, nunca ayudaron a sus compañeros para defender a los dos jugadores rivales más importantes en el ataque; en cada jugada de gol queda retratado cada uno de los antes nombrados y en mi opinión, creo que la derrota pudo ser hasta mayor; ahora no solo esa originalmente línea de cinco defensores tuvo la culpa, porque los tres centrocampistas el club colchonero, se comportaron de muy mala manera, la imprecisión, lo perdidos que estaban en el campo, fue algo sorprendente y hasta hubo un momento que la transmisión del encuentro pone en pantalla a Llorente y pensé que recién había entrado al juego cuando la realidad es que fue titular, así de mal jugó hoy el otro club de la capital de España.

El Athletic Club ha jugado muy bien en esta temporada, es contundente de local y eso les ha favorecido enormemente; en la final se enfrentarán al sorpresivo Mallorca de Javier Aguirre, un encuentro que seguramente los bilbaínos serán favoritos, pero quiero recordar que a este club se le está resistiendo el obtener nuevamente este título y para ejemplo está la disputa de la edición del 2020 y 2021, disputadas en el 2021 y en dónde perdieron ambas finales, así que como siempre sucede, las finales hay que ganarlas aunque en esta oportunidad, creo que con los hermanos Williams tienen toda la posibilidad de obtener su título número 24.

Yo esperaba era un empate, no un resultado tan abultado y es que el Atleti jugó muy mal, fue un encuentro horrendo por parte de todos, incluyendo a su entrenador; todo lo contrario por el Athletic Club que si fue contundente en su casa, así como ha ocurrido en toda esta temporada por la Copa del Rey.
Concuerdo contigo, y el Athletic aprovecho su oportunidad al máximo.
