Una introducción necesaria
Este evento tiene una gran importancia porque no solo reconoce a los deportistas más destacados en el año, sino, que hay varias categorías nominadas y por consiguiente, la entrega de premios va más allá de récords y actuaciones descollantes porque, al final, el deporte no es solo resultados, sino que, también es formación de valores y crecimiento humano.
En esta publicación daré mi criterio en torno a alguno de los ganadores de los Premios Laureus, que, para el mundo del deporte, son como los Premios Óscar del cine.
Algunos elementos sobre la entrega de los Premios Laureus
Si usted revisa algunas páginas de internet, como Wikipedia podrá acceder a mucha información, sobre este evento. Quien escribe lo ha seguido en varias ocasiones porque atletas cubanos y otros que admiro han sido reconocidos con esta distinción o nominados. A pesar de lo que se dice en la Web 2, aquí les comparto algunos elementos, a manera de cultura general:
•Los premios se otorgan por los miembros de la Academia Laureus World Sports, integrada por prestigiosas figuras del mundo del deporte.
•Los miembros de la academia son de deportes disímiles, lo que hace más universal las propuestas ganadoras.
•Comenzaron a entregarse en el año 2000.
•Como en los Óscar de Cine, Grammy de Música o Cervantes de Literatura, los deportistas se nominan en distintas categorías y estas son: Mejor Deportista Femenina del Año, Mejor Deportista Masculino del Año, Mejor Promesa del Año, Mejor Reaparición del Año, Mejor deportista discapacitado del año, Mejor Equipo del Año y Mejor Deportista de Deportes Alternativos del Año.
•El deportista que más veces ha ganado este premio es el suizo Roger Federer.
Tiene otros elementos importantes, como la participación de numerosas personalidades de las artes, el deporte, la cultura y la política. Este año, una de las principales atracciones fue Usain Bolt, de quien el autor escribió una publicación en el día de ayer.

•La Mejor Reaparición del Año. Esta condición recayó en Simone Baile. Comparto con el jurado tal distinción porque, tras la salida de la gimnasta de Estados Unidos de los Juegos Olímpicos de Tokio, no se había vuelto a saber de ella y se tenía la duda si volvería. La respuesta la dio en el mundial anterior al volver a ganar el título de máxima acumuladora, para seguir agrandando su leyenda
•El Equipo Mundial del Año. Este premio lo alcanzó el Equipo Femenino de Fútbol de España. Quizás pueda pensarse que el estar en la capital española haya inclinado la balanza hacia las ibéricas, pero, lo cierto es que hicieron méritos para alcanzar tal distinción. Es cierto que, entre los nominados estaban el Manchester City y el equipo masculino de Baloncesto alemán quienes también tenían méritos suficientes, para ganar tal condición, pero, en esta ocasión fueron las futbolistas españolas las ganadoras.
•Mejor Promesa del Año: Esta importante distinción fue para el futbolista de la selección inglesa y del Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham. A pesar de los nominados, este futbolista tuvo un desempeño excelente tras arribar al club merengue y es responsable máximo de las buenas actuaciones del equipo de la capital española.
•Mejor Deportista Femenina del Año. Al igual que todas las nominaciones, esta estuvo bastante reñida, pero, Aitana Bonmatí, jugadora de la selección española, Balón de Oro y campeona del mundo con su selección, se llevó el premio.
•Mejor Deportista Masculino del Año: Novak Djokovic: A pesar de la gran calidad de los nominados, no hubo un deportista que con la edad de Nole o cualquier otra edad haya alcanzado los resultados del tenista serbio. Sencillamente, fue prácticamente invencible y, excepto uno, ganó todos los torneos de máximo nivel, en los que jugó
Los otros galardones recayeron en la neerlandesa Diede de Groot como mejor atleta discapacitada y Arisa Trew de Australia en deportes alternativos.
De igual manera, se entregó un premio especial a la Fundación Rafa Nadal por los valores que fomenta y la actividad social que realiza.
Un comentario final
Ha concluido la edición 25 de la entrega de los Premios Laureus y varias estrellas alumbraron el cielo de Madrid.
Algunos pueden o no estar de acuerdo con la selección de los atletas ganadores de los premios. Pero, lo cierto es que todos los que fueron galardonados con el premio son merecedores de tal condición.
Por último, algunos de los nominados y ganadores de estos galardones los estaremos viendo en los ya cercanos juegos olímpicos que, entre el 26 de julio y el 11 de agosto de este año acogerá a París, como la sede de tan importante evento.

In this publication I will give my opinion on some of the winners of the Laureus Awards, which, for the world of sport, are like the Oscars of cinema.
Some elements about the Laureus Awards ceremony
If you check some websites, such as Wikipedia, you will be able to access a lot of information about this event. I have followed it on several occasions because Cuban athletes and others I admire have been recognized with this distinction or nominated. In spite of what is said on Web 2, here I share with you some elements, as a way of general culture:
- The awards are given by the members of the Laureus World Sports Academy, made up of prestigious figures from the world of sports.
- The members of the academy are from different sports, which makes the winning proposals more universal.
- They began to be awarded in 2000.
- As in the Oscars for Cinema, Grammy for Music or Cervantes for Literature, sportsmen and women are nominated in different categories and these are: Best Female Athlete of the Year, Best Male Athlete of the Year, Best Promising Athlete of the Year, Best Comeback of the Year, Best Disabled Athlete of the Year, Best Team of the Year and Best Alternative Sports Athlete of the Year.

Desconocía de estos premios y sinceramente, darle el reconocimiento merecido a los atletas, está muy bien. Creo que es un reconocimiento del año, pero también a la trayectoria y al comportamiento del atleta, tanto dentro como fuera de set, en donde se destacan. En el caso de Leo estuvo entre los nominados. De hecho, fue el único atleta argentino que estuvo, pero, este año Novak le ganó en la votación final.

Es triste pero la única manera de recordar a la selección femenina de España fue por el escándalo con rubiales, es muy triste que ese logro quedó empañado por alto es muy triste que ese logro quedó empañado por algo tan insignificante 🫠🫠
En mi caso, cuando hice mi publicación sobre los mejores hechos deportivos del 2023 di a esta selección entre ellos porque hicieron una faena extraordinaria.
