El ELO es el sistema de puntuación internacional empleado para calcular cuan “fuerte” es un ajedrecista, en términos normales a mayor ELO mayor será la fuerza de juego del atleta, puede ser perfectamente comparado con el average de un beisbolista. Este número resulta bastante útil pues permite establecer categorías y que de esta forma los torneos puedan ser llevados a cabo de la manera más balanceada posible. Dependiendo la organización del evento pudieran incluir determinados rangos de ELO o que los participantes jueguen con otros jugadores de un ELO similar, esto evita que aficionados se encuentren con competidores súper experimentados aunque no es raro ver que existan choques de ELOS disparejos.
La Federación Internacional de Ajedrez (FIDE) realiza el calculo mensual del ELO a nivel mundial, es sencillo, entre más partidas ganas más ELO tendrás, en el video explico brevemente como puedes realizar este calculo.
Otra cosa interesante a destacar es el tema de los títulos, pues si, en este sentido el ELO se vuelve un requisito si quieres obtener uno de estos prestigiosos títulos internacionales Para el caso de Maestros Candidato (CM) y Maestro FIDE (FM) necesitas acumular un ELO de 2200 y 2300 respectivamente por lo que debes entrenar super fuerte…!

Genial! Sí, el Elo. Es un apellido originalmente, el del matemático que lo inventó. Es un sistema muy bueno que se está incluso incorporando en otros deportes como mencionaste. Aunque hay propuestas más elaboradas que superan las debilidades del sistema Elo e incluso tienen mayor poder predictivo, resulta que el Elo es una fórmula muy sencilla y efectiva y por eso es difícil de reemplazar.
Claro hay otras alternativas pero como dice el viejo dicho, si funciona y está bien fekenlo tranquilo, algo así era. Tampico hay que descartar que en un futuro veamos un sistema más efectivo siendo implementado.
Una forma muy particular para denotar de forma puntual y medible el nivel de los jugadores. Excelente post!
