Urgh! I’m so in my feelings right now. It’s 18:24 and I’m in an Uber going home and all I can think about is how much I enjoyed my day. I’m low key worried about encountering traffic on the way because mornings and evenings are always madness when it comes to Lagos traffic. Evenings are called rush hour because everyone is trying to get home and get by. Anyways, I nearly changed my mind about going out today because I didn’t think my social battery would actually carry me through but I did it and I’m so glad I did.
¡Urgh! Estoy muy en mis sentimientos ahora mismo. Son las 18:24 y estoy en un Uber yendo a casa y todo lo que puedo pensar es en lo mucho que disfruté de mi día. Estoy preocupado por encontrar tráfico en el camino porque las mañanas y las noches siempre son una locura cuando se trata del tráfico de Lagos. Las noches se llaman hora punta porque todo el mundo está tratando de llegar a casa y sobresiguiendo. De todos modos, casi cambio de opinión sobre salir hoy porque no pensé que mi batería social realmente me llevaría adelante, pero lo hice y me alegro mucho de haberlo hecho.
A few members of the Hive community who reside in Lagos decided to get together for the weekend. It was a hangout organized by @starstrings, such a fine young man with a thoughtful mind. A few weeks ago I saw some members of Hive community(I don’t remember the person who made the post) get together in their numbers and it was really nice to see. I imagined how these strangers have been brought together by one platform and are now all friends holding each other, smiling and taking pictures. I thought to myself f that I would like to experience a hive hang, little did I know that @starstrings01 was already making plans towards it.
Algunos miembros de la comunidad de Hive que residen en Lagos decidieron reunirse el fin de semana. Fue un lugar de reunión organizado por @starstrings, un joven tan bueno con una mente reflexiva. Hace unas semanas vi a algunos miembros de la comunidad de Hive (no recuerdo a la persona que hizo la publicación) reunirse en sus números y fue muy agradable verlo. Me imaginé cómo estos extraños han sido reunidos por una plataforma y ahora todos son amigos abrazándose, sonriendo y tomando fotos. Pensé para mí mismo que me gustaría experimentar un colgado de colmena, poco sabía que los planes ya estaban en marcha.
It was scheduled for 9am but I arrived a little later than 11 am. We all seemed happy to be meeting each other, we made introductions ourselves and I immediately loved the energy we exuded. Lol. I remember telling myself that I’ll ditch them if it became boring but I immediately knew there were a vibe and I wasn’t going to be bored. It felt like I stepped out of my comfort zone; I am here in the midst of brilliant minds bodied by strangers and I didn’t feel out of place which was a surprise to me. They were all cool, kind and accommodating.
Estaba programado para las 9 de la mañana, pero llegué un poco más tarde de las 11 de la mañana. Todos parecíamos felices de conocernos, hicimos presentaciones nosotros mismos e inmediatamente me encantó la energía que exudamos. Lol. Recuerdo haberme dicho a mí mismo que los abandonaría si se volvía aburrido, pero inmediatamente supe que había un ambiente y que no me iba a aburrir. Sentí como si saliera de mi zona de confort; estoy aquí en medio de mentes brillantes con cuerpo de extraños y no me sentí fuera de lugar, lo que fue una sorpresa para mí. Todos eran geniales, amables
We soon began to look at the menu and started deciding what to order and soon the food arrived and we all pounced on the salacious dishes and ate like the aspiring whales we are. You can see from the pictures that no piece of turkey went free. We kept taking pictures and @josediccus blessed us with his talent for videography.
Pronto empezamos a mirar el menú y empezamos a decidir qué pedir y pronto llegó la comida y todos nos abalanzamos sobre los platos salaces y comimos como las aspirantes a ballenas que somos. Allow me to introduce you to the wonderful people I met today.
First is the brain behind the link up @starstrings01. It was his idea to organize this meeting amongst the hivers in Lagos, though not everyone in Lagos state showed up but the ones who did were all amazing and I was so pleased to have me them. He was so lively and somehow made it feel like we had previously known each other. It was cute how we all started following each other on hive. Lol.

Fue idea suya organizar esta reunión entre las colmenas de Lagos, aunque no todos en el estado de Lagos se presentaron, pero los que lo hicieron fueron increíbles y me alegró mucho tenerlos. Era tan animado y de alguna manera lo hizo sentir como si nos hubiéramos conocido anteriormente. Fue lindo cómo empezamos a seguirnos en la colmena. Lol.
Next on the list is @readthisplease. This amazing human actually told me about the hang and invited me, bless his soul. He is famous on the Leofinance community and was happy to give some helpful advice to the newbies amongst us. He is very picture shy but there was nothing he could do but strike a pose. 😄
It wasn’t my first meeting him but spending time with him and the others felt new.
El segundo es @readthisplease. Este increíble humano me habló del ahorcar y me invitó a bendecir su alma. Es famoso en la comunidad Leofinance y estuvo encantado de dar algunos consejos útiles a los novatos entre nosotros. Es muy tímido, pero no había nada más que hacer hacer una pose. 😄
No fue la primera vez que lo conocí, pero pasé tiempo con él y los demás se sintieron nuevos.
Meet the spectacular @josediccus. Lol. This one? I don’t even know what to say but just know he has such a creative and brilliant mind. He was happy to have us pick his brain. He has successfully made Canva his bitch and I’m happy to explore my creativity with the app with all the pointers he shared with us.
His iPhone12 🙄 was responsible for all the amazing pictures and videos we took, I remember reading his post about buying the phone and how he said the value it’ll bring would be worth the fortune it cost. Well, the little machine served its purpose well. He liked my username though, said it’s catchy☺️
Conoce al espectacular @josediccus. Lol. ¿Este? Ni siquiera sé qué decir, pero solo sé que tiene una mente tan creativa y brillante. Estaba feliz de que escogiéramos su cerebro. Ha hecho con éxito de Canva su perra y estoy feliz de explorar mi creatividad con la aplicación con todos los consejos que compartió con nosotros.
Su iPhone12 🙄 fue responsable de todas las increíbles fotos y vídeos que tomamos, recuerdo haber leído su publicación sobre la compra del teléfono y cómo dijo que el valor que traerá valdría la pena la fortuna que costó. Bueno, la pequeña máquina cumplió bien su propósito. Sin embargo, le gustó mi nombre de usuario, dijo que es pegadizo☺️
@Ksam is the next person you should meet. He came prepared to charm everyone with his smile and that’s exactly what he did. He had such good energy around him and being a creative genius himself, he was also happy to share his Canva tips and tricks with the rest of us. His 3Speak videos are amazing and his voice is so amazing. He was so chill yet commanded a strong presence. I enjoyed hanging and interacting with him.
@Ksam es la próxima persona que deberías conocer. Vino preparado para encantar a todos con su sonrisa y eso es exactamente lo que hizo. Tenía muy buena energía a su alrededor y, siendo él mismo un genio creativo, también estaba feliz de compartir sus consejos y trucos de Canva con el resto de nosotros. Sus vídeos de 3Speak son increíbles y su voz es increíble. Estaba tan tranquilo pero tenía una fuerte presencia. Disfruté colgando e interactuando con él.
@Onwugbenuvictor is another big brain on the Leo finance community. His input and dedication as a lion is commendable. I didn’t meet him for the first time today though, but sitting across from him and watching him share his hive experiences was really interesting. And he let me have a piece of his turkey. Lol. He’s a real one.

@winniecorp is an absolute sweetheart. Fashionably late but no held it against her when she showed up. She was the last one to arrive when we had already started eating 😅It’s not her fault anyways because she came from a far distance. Thing is I’ve actually been looking forward to meeting her so I was happy when she showed up 🙈 She and I later took a walk around the mall to feed our eyes and stretch our legs, as well as find inspiration for content. 😂

Ella fue la última en llegar cuando ya habíamos empezado a comer 😅 De todos modos, no es su culpa porque vino de una distancia lejana. La cosa es que en realidad he estado deseando conocerla, así que estaba feliz cuando apareció 🙈 Ella y yo más tarde dimos un paseo por el centro comercial para alimentar nuestros ojos y estirar las piernas, así como para encontrar inspiración para el contenido. 😂

@omosefe is another person I was looking forward to meeting when I learnt she would be at the hang. She made me feel so unserious cause she brought note pads 😩 Anyways, it was fun having her in the mix.

@martinstomisin was also there. He shot me the gorgeous photo where I was sitting pretty and others pictures too. He’s not very active on hive because of the nature of his jobs but it was sweet of him to even abandon work and join us today.

So that’s it. I am a person who’s drawn to amazing people and I had the opportunity to spend time with a bunch of them today.
I can only hope that our newly found connections blossoms into greater things. I felt really excited and grateful for this incredible link up. Listening to everyone share their experiences and challenges on Hive was really uplifting especially to newbies like me. I know for sure that meetup has influenced to become a better hiver so watch this space.
