" GROWING AND BIGGER " | Hive Onboarding Orientation at Workplace Cafe Mandaue Cebu, Philippines

Our goal in bringing more people inside the platform is still on the roll this year 2024. Through the support of OCD Onboarding Program we keep on disseminating the good news of the Hive platform to everyone.

Last February 3, 2024, we successfully conducted a Hive Orientation to a group of college students in Cebu, Phillippines. A week before the orientation, @jeannmazing informed us that her classmate and other friends were interested in learning more about the Hive platform and asked us if we could hold an orientation in Cebu City.

Of course, we will not pass on this request, it's another opportunity for us to spread easily about Hive. We are grateful to the people who took the initiative to share the platform with their loved ones.

So, we scheduled it for last Saturday, February 3, 2024, when everyone was free and no class. Since all participants are in the City we choose WorkPlace CafeMandaue where most of us are nearby. When we are holding a Hive Orientation in the City one of our challenges is the place and location where we can hold the orientation, especially when we have a large volume of attendees. We don't have a permanent place that can accommodate us and perfectly fit our budget. That's one thing we still figuring out.

On this orientation,I also tapped our mentor @ybanezkim26 if he is in Cebu City and can join us on this orientation, gladly he is free and give us his time.

I booked ahead day before the event through their contact information on their page, we chose their meeting room area and rented it for two hours, starting 9:00 am to 11:00 am. It can accommodate ten people, they allow excess but you need to pay an extra penny for the additional headcount. By the way, the meeting room rate per hour is eight dollars. You can see more details on their page.

The place is cozy and perfect for a co-working space. It is a two-story cafe, spacious, and has a lot of chairs and tables available for your end once you visit. Don't worry about the food they have also inside you can take your snack or meal. Theirs a lot of choices.

I arrived at the venue twenty minutes before our reserved time, @jeannmazing and two of her classmates were already there. I go ahead inside the cafe to confirm our reservation and ready the area while @jeannmazing is waiting outside for her other classmate.

After a few minutes, almost all of the participants had already arrived. So, I asked the Cafe in charge if we could use already the meeting room, He said yes and prepared the area so we could start. Then when we entered the room, @ybanezkim26 also arrived in the area and I started setting up the presentation immediately. I had trouble connecting to their network because of some firewall, glad that theirs a computer engineering girl among the participants who assisted us with resolving the connection.

By 9:30 am, I officially begin the orientation and start introducing ourselves, giving some overview about the platform and the reason why we doing this orientation. We also share our hobbies, and interests in life and share our little background. We also share our journey in Hive, how we started, and know the platform and what blogs we mostly publish in the blockchain.

Then, @ybanezkim26 follows discussing the technical aspect of the platform. He introduced the basics of Hive blockchain and the web3 platform. He also differs it from the common web2 Social media platforms such as Facebook, Youtube, X (Twitter), and Instagram.

He also introduces the different frontends inside the Hive Blockchain, from the social media, games, video, and NFT applications that they can explore in Hive. We also tackle cryptocurrency and other exchanges used in crypto transactions. Kim also emphasizes the advantages of Hive in the modern era and how the platform developed for the future.

After Introducing the basics of Hive, I let @jeannmazing navigate her classmates inside the @PeakD. She starts discussing the look of the platform and introducing the tools of @peakd. She also shares what a blog looks like and in her discussion, she emphasizes the importance of community and engagement.

Why PeakD?, PeakD is a newbie friendly and easy to navigate. Its features are mostly similar to Facebook that they used to. It has a complete set of tools that can help newbie start their journey in Hive.

She also demonstrates where and how to create a blog, the importance of formatting links, having a quality picture, and the enticing title of your blogs.

After, I discussed the reward system of the blog, how thus it is curated, and how the reward is distributed after the seven days. I also discuss the wallet and the importance of Hive Power. We also share what is HBD, and Hive Token and how they will trade them into fiat.

To start their journey in Hive, we asked them to create their Introduction blog, so everyone would know them thoroughly. We give them a guide to create an Introductory blog so they can easily formulate their introduction.

Then, we share the Do's and Don'ts of the blockchain. It is one important part of the orientation so they will not be fucked up in Hive and have fun on their Hive journey. In this part, we emphasize the importance of creating quality content and never attempting plagiarism. That's what we all ask them.

The last of the program was the question and answer portion, It was an interactive and smooth conversation where we answered verification of everyone. I feel their eagerness to know more about the platform and their excitement to start soon. We ended the orientation by having a photo op as documentation of this event.

On this orientation, we have ten interested individual students who successfully attended the OCD Hive Orientation Program. For those who didn't know this initiative is associated with OCD. With the lead of @ybanezkim of this orientation, we are grateful to the participants who gave time and interest in knowing the Hive Platform. Indeed this family is GROWING AND BIGGER.
