Greetings friends who love handmade arts and crafts! Continuing with the Christmas preparations, I would like to share my second jewelry work alluding to the holiday, belonging to the Christmas fantasy jewelry collection. This time I will present a set of candy cane earrings made with recycled plastic and wool. Join me to follow the step by step.

Continuando con los preparativos navideños, me gustaría compartir mi segundo trabajo de joyería alusivo a la festividad, perteneciente a la colección joyería de fantasía navideña. En esta ocasión presentaré un juego de aretes de bastones de caramelos hechos con plástico reciclado y lana. Acompáñenme a seguir el paso a paso.
The winding technique consists of taking a piece of the figure we need, either in cardboard or plastic and with some fiber we are going to wind without leaving space between one turn and another. That is to say, that the piece is completely covered with thread. We could also leave spaces so that the background can be seen. We can do it in a coordinated way or pass the thread from one side to the other without a specific pattern. The idea of the winding is to cover the piece very well with the thread.
La técnica del enrrollado, consiste en tomar una pieza de la figura que necesitamos, ya sea en cartón o plástico y con alguna fibra vamos a enrollar sin dejar espacio entre una vuelta y otra. Es decir, que quede totalmente cubierta la pieza con el hilo. También podríamos dejar espacios para que se vea el fondo. Podemos hacerla de forma coordinada o pasar el hilo de un lado a otro sin un patron específico. La idea del enrollado es cubrir muy bien la pieza con el hilo.

Small piece of white plastic
White wool
Wine red colored fishing line
2 earring hooks
2 rings
Scissors
Awl
Silicone
6 green round stones

Process of elaboration
-We take the plastic, I used a body cream container in which I had already made other recycling works. Then, we draw the candy cane leaving a small circle in the upper part to be able to hang the hook.

-Tomamos el plástico, yo utilicé un envase de crema corporal en el que ya había realizado otros trabajos de reciclaje. Luego, dibujamos el bastón de caramelo dejando un pequeño circulo en la parte superios para poder colgar el enganche.

-We cut the pieces. I cut 2, one for each earring.
-Recortamos las piezas. Yo saqué 2, una para cada arete.
I used 2 scissors, as it is a bit difficult to turn with the large scissors on curves.
Utilicé 2 tijeras, ya que en las curvas es un poco difícil girar con la tijera grande.
-Once we have both pieces, we are going to take the white colored yarn and wind it up so that there is no space between one round of yarn and the next.
-Una vez que tenemos ambas piezas, vamos a tomar la lana de xolor blanco y enrollamos que no quede espacio entre una vuelta de hilo y la siguiente.
We can apply a dot of silicone at the beginning of the winding and at the end to fix the wool.
-After we finish covering the piece with the white colored yarn, we will take the red colored fishing line and we will make a few turns a little bit separated so that it looks like a candy.
Podemos aplicar un punto de silicón al comenzar el enrrollado y al finalizar para fijar la lana.
-Después que terminamos de cubrir la pieza con la lana de color blanco, vamos a tomar la sedalina de color rojo y daremos unas vueltas un poco separadas para que parezca un caramelo.

-Now we take the awl and heat it to pierce the canes in the circles that we left to pass the rings.
-Ahora tomamos el punzón y lo calentamos para perforar los bastones en los círculos que dejamos para pasar las argollas.
-We place a ring and a hitch on each cane.
-Colocamos una argolla y un enganche en cada bastón.
-Finally, we glue some small green stones at the bottom of each cane.
-Para finalizar, pegamos unas pequeñas piedras de color verde en la parte inferior de cada bastón.
And that's it, our candy cane earrings with coiling technique are ready to show off.

This is a very simple set of earrings to make and the cost is minimal since all the materials are recycled.
I can recommend that at the moment of winding the thread, it should be tightened well to avoid loosening with use and we can place silicone dots to fix the thread to the plastic.
For this work I used yarns of 2 different thicknesses, the wool is much thicker than the silk. At the moment of winding it makes contrast the thick and the thin thread and gives a better finish. You can also use wool of the same thickness and it will look nice.

Este es un juego de aretes muy sencillo de realizar y el costo es mínimo ya que todos los materiales son de reciclaje.
Puedo recomendar que al momento de enrollar el hilo, se aprete bien para evitar que se afloje con el uso y podemos colocar puntos de silicón para que se fije el hilo al plástico.Para este trabajo utilicé hilos de 2 grosores diferentes la lana es mucho más gruesa que la sedalina. Al momento de enrollar hace contraste el hilo grueso y el fino y da un mejor acabado. También se puede utilizar lana del mismo grosor y se verá bonito.
En la época navideña que es momento de dar y recibir regalos un juego de sretes #DIY es la mejor opción. Espero que les guste mi trabajo y que se animen a realizarlo. Nos vemos en una próxima oportunidad. Saludos!
