We leave the area dedicated to the Ermitage Hotel Restaurant to find ourselves at the back of the abbey church.
In a small room, we discover models that tell the history of the abbey through two very different periods: on one side, Monastic Fontevraud, witness to 700 years of religious life, and on the other, Carceral Fontevraud, when the French Revolution transformed the building into a prison. These models allow us to step back in time and appreciate how much the place has changed over the centuries.
Nous quittons l'espace dédié à l’hôtel-restaurant l’Ermitage pour nous retrouver à l’arrière de l’abbatiale.
Dans une petite salle, nous découvrons des maquettes qui racontent l’histoire de l’abbaye à travers deux époques très différentes : d’un côté, le Fontevraud monastique, témoin de 700 ans de vie religieuse, et de l’autre, le Fontevraud carcéral, quand la Révolution française a transformé cet édifice en prison. Ces maquettes permettent de se projeter dans le temps et de mesurer à quel point le lieu a changé au fil des siècles.
