This weekend, I stayed overnight at a makerspace in my state and hosted a workshop. Some of you may remember that I wrote sometimes on Hive Blog about the bean necklaces I make—this time the workshop was all about creating those necklaces together.
This year, Chemnitz—the third-largest city in my state—is one of the European Capitals of Culture, so there have been more events than usual. My workshop was part of an area-wide program called Maker Advent.
Participants’ works gave me inspirations. A mother and a small daughter created this piece—one of the beans cracked, so it's repaired it with a tiny bead. A little accident turned into a beautiful idea.
I had brought some nail art stickers on a whim, and they turned out to be surprisingly popular.
The workshop took place at "auf weiter flur", a makerspace in Augustusburg—a beautiful hilltop town about 30 minutes from Chemnitz by train. They kindly allow overnight stays, so I spent two nights there for preparation and tidying up. On the second day, my family joined me, and we created together, enjoyed the gorgeous scenery, and had a really lovely time.
This year has been full of hands-on making—crafting, hosting workshops, discovering what I truly love, and connecting with people who also enjoy creating. Through Hive, I joined three real events and met people who live freely and creatively. It has been such a joyful year.
Still there are about 25 days left in 2025. I want to spend them listening to my heart and body, letting new ideas settle and ferment.
And maybe next year … shall we all roll sushi together at a Hive event? 😄 🍣

今週末は同じ州内にあるメイカースペースで、泊まりがけでワークショップをしてきました。内容はというと、以前Hive Blogにも書いたことのある私が作っている豆のネックレスをみんなで作るというものです。今年は、私が住んでいる州で3番目に大きな都市のケムニッツがヨーロッパ文化都市の一つで、いつになくイベントが多く、私のワークショップもメイカーアドベントという企画のワークショップの一つでした。
ワークショップの参加者の作品、ハプニングからは、インスピレーションを得られました。あるお母さんと娘さんの作品。豆が壊れてしまった部分がビーズで直してあります。
思いつきでネイル用のステッカーを買って行ったら思いの外みなさんに気に入ってもらえました。
ワークショップを開催したのはアウグストゥスブルクというケムニッツから電車で30分ほどの丘の上の美しい街のメイカースペースauf weiter flurで、宿泊OKとのことで準備と片付けを兼ねて泊まりがけで行きました。二日目には家族も合流して、作って、美しい景色を堪能して、楽しい時間を過ごしました。
今年は、たくさん手を動かして作ってワークショップをして、自分の好きなことが見えて、作るのが好きな人たちや、Hiveではリアルイベントに3回参加して自由に生きている人たちとよりつながって、楽しい一年になりました。
2025年の残り25日ほどを大事に、自分の心と体の声を聴きながらアイディアを温めて過ごしたいと思います。来年はHiveのイベントでみんなでお寿司をまきましょっか！？なんて☺️
