My acoustic guitar don't have a built in pick up. I used a detachable pick up when I need it to plug in an amplifier. But it seems that the sounds is not good.

I used an acoustic guitar with built in pick up and it makes me think that I really need to upgrade my acoustic guitar.

It's time! I ordered a 5-Band pick up for acoustic guitar on shopee.

After 3 days, it arrived.

The Kit

There are 3 main parts of the kit.

The pre-amp. It includes the 5-band equalizer, the main volume control and the tuner.

The battery compartment and the output sockets

And the main pick up.

It's Hole Time

I planned and researched for ways how to make holes for the installation of the kit. I found a video that doesn't required an expensive tools. That makes me my guide. But I still needs to improvise.

I use sticker paper.

I find the perfect spot for the equalizer to fit its curve.
And marked it.

I put the template I made and make a markings on the sticker paper.

Its time to cut a hole using a blade cutter.

It's done and it perfectly fit.

Now, the other hole for the battery storage.

I made 4 strips from the sticker paper.

Sticked it to the back of the battery pack.

I removed it and place to the guitar on where I will pit the battery pack. I decided to place it on the side. And starts cutting hole using blade cutter again.

My blade cutter slips and it damaged some parts of the guitar.

Fortunately, it doesnt too noticeable when the battery storage is placed.

Now its time to install the pick up.

I drilled small hole in the saddle socket. I use a small wood screw to make hole and small screwdriver to make the hole wider for the wire of pick up to fit in.

The saddle needs to reduced cause it will make the string action too hard.
Im using rough sandpaper.

Then, I connect all the wires from pick up to equalizer and from equalizer to battery compartment.
The installment is done.
Put the saddle on, install the strings and it's done.

It needs 9V battery for the amplifier and tuner works.
The sounds is very loud.
I really love the sound.

Now I can use it on any gig.
I don't have to bring my elextric guitar.

Thank yoy for reading my DIY.
I need to rest. I was exhausted.
Hahaha..

See you soon hivers.

It's nice to see you can do it at home. I bet if you take it to a shop, they would charge the hell out of you. Well done!

Yes i bet it cost me more. In times like this, we need to save money for food. The inflation rate now is so high.
Thanks for noticing me.
Have a nice day.

Vovv, very nice👍👍

Thank you!
