Hello dear friends of DiyHub, I hope you're all doing well. Today I want to share a drawing I've been working on for two days. I thought it would be easy, but nothing could be further from the truth. I've created a drawing of Lionel Messi using the Scribble technique with only ballpoint pen ink. I've used this technique before, but only for small drawings that were easy for me to do. I'd been making these drawings using shopping receipts as canvases—you know, those receipts that list all the things we buy and their prices. I decided to make one of these receipts, but very different, since the subject would be Messi. I included Messi's stats so far on the receipt. From this point on, I'll explain the process and how I got this receipt. I've also made a video so you can enjoy the technique. Let's get started!
Hola queridos amigos de DiyHub espero se encuentren muy bien, hoy quiero compartir un dibujo en el que estuve trabajando por dos días, pensé que sería fácil pero nada más lejos de la realidad. He hecho un dibujo de Lionel Messi con la técnica del Scribble utilizando solamente tinta de bolígrafo, ya trabajó esta técnica antes pero lo hacía en dibujos pequeños que me resultaban sencillos de hacer. Había estado realizando estos dibujos utilizando recibos de compra como lienzo, ya saben, esos donde vienen todas las cosas que compramos y su precio. Se me ocurrió hacer uno de estos recibos pero muy diferente, ya que el protagonista sería Messi puse en el recibo las estadísticas de Messi hasta ahora. A partir de este momento les comentaré el proceso y como hice para obtener esta factura, también he realizado un video para que disfruten la técnica, comencemos!

I wanted to share that I had the idea to create a receipt, but instead of showing expenses, I thought it would look better with Messi's statistics over time, reflecting all his goals and victories. So, I asked the AI to create an image of a payslip with Lionel Messi's statistics and add the Argentine Football Association logo. Once it generated the image, I adjusted it so I could print it on a large sheet of Opaline cardstock, measuring 48 centimeters by 33 centimeters. The printout turned out great, and after that, I grabbed my pens and pencils to start drawing. The first thing I did was sketch Messi's face. It wasn't easy, as the lettering was very confusing, but little by little, I managed to do it.
Les comento que se me ocurrió hacer un recibo pero en lugar de gastos pensé que se vería mejor con las estadísticas de Messi a lo largo del tiempo, donde se viera reflejado todos sus goles y triunfos, así que le pedí a la IA que me hiciera una imagen de un recibo de pago con las estadísticas de Lionel Messi y que le pusiera el logo de la Asociación de Futbol Argentino. Una vez me hizo la imagen la arreglé mejor para poder imprimirla en una cartulina grande de Opalina, que mide 48 centímetros por 33 centímetros, la impresión quedó genial luego de eso busqué los bolígrafos y los lápices para ponerme a dibujar. Lo primero que hice fue hacer el boceto del rostro de Messi, no fue fácil, ya que las letras me confundían mucho, pero poco a poco pude hacerlo.

After making the sketch as detailed yet simple as possible, I began using pens to make the lines. First, I draw lines to define the parts of the drawing. Once I start drawing those and they're ready, I add simple scribbles with a regular pen. This way, I create the first layers and get an overall view of how the drawing will look.
Luego d ehacer el boceto lo más detallado pero a la vez sencillo comencé a utilizar los bolígrafos para hacer los trazos. En primer lugar hago líneas para delimitar las partes del dibujo, una vez que comienzo a hacerlas y este listo lo que hago es agregar garabatos simples con un bolígrafo normal. Así voy haciendo lo que sería las primeras capas y permite tener una visión general de como queda´ra el dibujo.

I continue moving the pen with simple lines until I've completed most of the drawing. You can see how Messi's beard is becoming visible, as well as part of his neck and the back of his head. With this general overview, I can then move on to the rest of the markers, which have a finer tip but produce more intense ink.
Continúo moviendo el bolígrafo con líneas simples hasta completar la mayor parte del dibujo. Pueden observar como se hace visible la barba de Messi, también parte del cuello y la parte trasera de la cabeza. Con esta mirada general entonces se puede avanzar con el retso de marcadores que tienen una punta más fina pero la tinta es más intensa en su color.

As you can see, Messi's portrait is facing to the left, where most of the lettering is concentrated. This made drawing the front of the face difficult, especially the eyes, so I scribbled in the lighter areas and tried to leave the letters as they were where I needed shading. Then I used the other marker to refine the outline of the eyes, nose, and mouth.
Como pueden observar, el retrato de Messi quedó mirando hacia la izquierda, en esa parte se encuentra concentrada la mayor parte de letras, esto hizo que hacer la parte frontal del rostro fuera dificil de hacer y darle forma, especialmente a los ojos, así que fui garabateando en las partes más claras y donde necesitaba sombra simplemente trataba de dejar las letras asi. Con el otro marcador puse entonces deliniear mejor los ojos, la nariz y la boca.

Next, I use a marker with a slightly thicker tip to draw the strokes for the hair's shadows and give it more volume, as well as the shadow under the beard that falls onto the neck. And that's how it looks finished.
Seguidamente utilizo un marcador que tiene la punta un poco más gruesa, con este marcador hago los trazos para la sombra dle cabello y darle mas volumen, así como tambien la sombra debajo de la barba que se proyecta en el cuello. Así ha quedado finalizado.
What do you think of the result? I was very surprised; this technique is much harder to use when the drawing is larger, unlike when it's small. I feel like I need more practice. For now, I want to frame this drawing because I really like how it turned out, and the background is great too. I hope you liked it. Goodbye for now!
¿Qué les ha parecido el resultado? yo me llevé una gran sorpresa, esta técnica es más difícil de usar cuando el dibujo es más grande, nada que ver cuando son cosas pequeñas, siento que necesito más práctica. Por ahora quiero poner este dibujo en un marco porque me gustó mucho como me que´do, además de que el fondo es genial. Espeor que les haya gustado, por ahora me despido hasta pronto!
