Greetings, friends. The other day, I shared a figurine of Jason Voorhees, the iconic horror character and antagonist from the movie Friday the 13th, on my blog. Well, he is part of a collection of horror characters that I am putting together. All of them are iconic and well-known characters.

Well, today it's time for another very famous character, the antagonist from the movie Scream. I'm talking about one of the characters who has inspired the most costumes for this time of year: Ghostface.
He's a pretty terrifying character in the movie and, in my opinion, pretty cool to recreate as a sculpture. Join me in the creative process of making this figurine, so you can see how I turned some pieces of plasticine into a figurine of such an iconic character.
Pues bien, hoy es turno de otro personaje muy famoso, antagonista de la película Scream. Les hablo de uno de los personajes que más ha inspirado disfraces para esta época, les hablo de Ghostface.
Es un personaje bastante terrorífico en su película y en mi opinión, bastante genial de recrear como escultura. Acompáñenme en el proceso creativo de esta figurita, para que vean cómo convertí unas piezas de plastilina en una figurita de tan icónico personaje.
Step by step
Well, basically I used black modeling clay for almost the entire character. It actually has two colors, black and white. This doesn't mean it's easier to make than other characters that are more colorful. On the contrary, you have to try to make the pieces stand out on a character whose clothing is a single color.
So, I started with the shoes, as you can see in the image on the left. I made them by creating a cylinder shape with black plasticine, not too long but small, about the size of a bean. I rounded the ends of each cylinder to give it a shoe-like shape.
Paso a paso
Bien, básicamente utilicé plastilina negra para casi todo el personaje. Es que tiene dos colores en realidad, blanco y negro. Esto no significa que sea más fácil de hacer que otros personajes que son más coloridos, al contrario, hay que tratar de que las piezas luzcan en un personaje cuya vestimenta es de un único color.
Pues bien, aquí comencé con los zapatos, como pueden ver en la imagen de la izquierda. Los hice creando una forma de cilindro con plastilina negra, no demasiado largo sino pequeño, como el tamaño de un frijol. Los extremos de cada cilindro los redondeé hasta darle una forma parecida a un zapato.

As you can see in the image above on the right, I also made the legs. To create them, I made another cylinder out of black plasticine, only much larger than the shoes. In fact, it is up to three times longer than the shoes and twice as thick. I folded this cylinder in half and created the shape of the pants.
Then, with the help of a wire shaped like an inverted “V,” I supported not only the legs but also the shoes. Next, I used a knitting needle to create these ripples in the clothing.
Como pueden observar en la imagen de arriba de la derecha, hice las piernas también. Para crearlas hice otro cilindro de plastilina negra, solo que mucho más grande que los zapatos, de hecho es hasta tres veces más largo que la de los zapatos y el doble de grueso. Este cilindro lo doblé a la mitad y creé la forma de los pantalones.
Luego, con ayuda de un alambre en forma de "v" invertida, le di soporte no solo a las piernas sino también a los zapatos. Posteriormente, usé una aguja de tejer para crear estas ondulaciones en la vestimenta.
The character wears a long robe. I didn't want to make it look like a nun's habit, but rather something more like Neo's trench coat in The Matrix, only more worn and threadbare.
To create it, I stretched the plasticine into a long, flat shape, as you can see in the image on the left. Then I cut it and shaped it as shown in the other image, on the right.
El personaje usa una larga túnica. No quise hacerlo como si fuese una monja, sino que la hice más bien parecido a la gabardina de Neo en Matrix, solo que más gastado y raído.
Para crearla estiré la plastilina en una forma larga y plana, como pueden observar en la imagen de la izquierda. Posteriormente la corté y le di la forma que se observa en la otra imagen, la de la derecha.

After cutting this sheet of plasticine, I used it to cover the character's torso. It should be noted that I used the rounded tip of another knitting needle to create these ripples that you see on the character's body.
I did the same with the arms. They are two short cylinders, but I made the sleeves exaggeratedly long, as if pieces of fabric were hanging from these areas. I also made lines along the fabric to simulate the ripples in the clothing.
Esta lámina de plastilina, después de cortarla, la usé para cubrir el torso del personaje. Cabe destacar que usé la punta redondeada de otra aguja de tejer para crear estas ondulaciones que ven en el cuerpo del personaje.
De igual manera hice los brazos. Son dos cilindros cortos, pero en la parte de las mangas, las hice exageradamente largas, como si tuviese trozos de tela colgando de estas áreas. También les hice líneas a lo largo de la tela para simular las ondulaciones de la vestimenta.

Below you can see how the character's body looked once I joined all the pieces together. In addition to this, I placed a black rope around the waist.
A continuación pueden observar cómo quedó el cuerpo del personaje una vez que uní todas las piezas. Adicional a esto, le coloqué una cuerda negra alrededor de la cintura.
Okay, it's time for the most important part and what gives the character its name: its ghostly face. To start, the first thing I did was create the hood. I also made this with black plasticine, creating a hollow bell-shaped piece, which I began to mold and sink in some parts to create these characteristic fabric ripples.
Bien, es hora de la parte más importante y lo que da el nombre al personaje, su cara de fantasma. Para comenzar, lo primero que hice fue crear la capucha. Esta la hice también con plastilina negra, creando una pieza con forma de campana hueca, la cual comencé a moldear y hundir en algunas partes para crear estas ondulaciones en característica de la tela.
The Ghostface mask was a little more complicated to make. I started by using a small piece of white modeling clay, which I continued to mold until I achieved the desired shape. I used a couple of wooden sticks and the rounded tip of a knitting needle to create the holes for the eyes.
Once the mask was ready, I used black plasticine to cover the holes for the eyes, nose, and mouth. The mask was now complete.
La máscara de Ghostface fue un poco más complicada de hacer. Comencé usando un trocito de plastilina blanca la cual continué moldeando hasta lograr la forma deseada. Usé un par de palillos de madera y la punta redondeada de una aguja de tejer para crear los agujeros del rostros.
Una vez lista la máscara, usé plastilina negra para cubrir los agujeros de los ojos, la nariz y la boca. Quedando lista la máscara.

The last thing I did was place the mask inside the hood, using glue to keep it in place. As important details, I made the hands with more black plasticine and a small knife to place in the right hand.
Ya lo último que hice fue colocar la máscara dentro de la capucha, usando pegamento para mantenerla fija en su lugar. Como detalles importantes, hice las manos con más plastilina negra y un cuchillo no muy grande para colocárselo en la mano derecha.
