Hello friends, welcome to a new post on my blog. Today I would like to share with you a cute little figurine inspired by another character from Splinterlands, a collectible card game and battle game on our Hive blockchain.
This is my entry for the weekly Splinterlands art contest, so I had to create art inspired by the game. This time, I was inspired by a rather interesting character named Captain Frankie. You can see a reference photo in the image below.

Esta es mi participación para el concurso semanal de arte de splinterlands, así que hay que hacer un arte inspirado en el juego. En esta ocasión me inspiré en un personaje bastante interesante llamado Captain Frankie. Pueden ver en la imagen de abajo una foto de referencia.

Well, my version is a little smaller and more adorable, as I made it in a chibi big-headed style, which differs slightly from the original character but retains its essence and many of its elements.

Pues bien, mi versión es un poco más pequeña y adorable, pues lo hice en un estilo Chibi cabezón, que dista un poco del personaje original pero mantiene su esencia y muchos de sus elementos.
Los invito pues a acompañarme en el paso a paso de tan simpático y encantador personaje. Vamos a empezar!
Step by step
Okay, the materials I used for this figurine were as follows:
- Plasticine
- Wire
- Glue
I started by selecting the plasticine I would use, opting for these colors: orange, beige, and white. I mixed them together and ended up with this slightly more opaque orange color, which I used to start molding Frankie's body.
I made these two pieces, the one on the left for the body and the one on the right for the head.
Paso a paso
Bien, los materiales que utilicé para esta figurita fueron los siguientes:
- Plastilina
- Alambre
- Pegamento
Comencé seleccionando la plastilina que utilizaría, me decanté por estos colores, naranja, color beige y blanco. Los mezclé y este naranja un poco más opaco fue el color que obtuve, con este color fue que comencé a moldear el cuerpo de Frankie.
Hice este par de piezas, la de la izquierda para el cuerpo y la de la derecha para la cabeza.

I joined both pieces together, smoothing the seams so that they didn't look like separate pieces but rather as one. After that, I used the beige color I mentioned earlier to create the light-colored fur on the dog's belly, neck, and front of the face, in some areas.
Uní ambas piezas suavizando las uniones, para que no se vieran como piezas separadas sino como una sola. Luego de esto usé aquel color beige que les mencioné antes para hacer ese pelaje de color claro que el perrito tiene en su panza, cuello y parte delantera de la cara, en algunas partes.

At this point, it certainly doesn't look like a dog; in fact, it looks like a weird creature, as you can see in the image below, on the left. However, little by little, it will begin to take shape. In fact, notice that in that image, I added the lower part of the snout and the eyes.
I made the snout the same beige color as the light fur, and then I made the eyes dark brown. Other elements that I also added so that the character would really start to take shape were Frankie's whiskers, which I also made beige, as well as the huge eyebrows above his eyes. As you can also see in the image on the right, I added some small teeth to the lower part of the snout, as well as a huge brown nose.
En este punto ciertamente no parece un perro, de hecho parece un bicho raro como pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, en la de la izquierda. Sin embargo, poco a poco comenzará a tomar forma, de hecho, fíjense que en esa imagen le coloqué la parte de abajo del hocico y los ojitos.
El hocico lo hice con el mismo color beige con el que hice ese pelaje claro, luego los ojos sí los hice con un marrón oscuro. Otros elementos que también añadí para que el personaje ciertamente comenzara a tomar forma fueron esos bigotes que tiene Frankie, los hice también con color beige, al igual que las cejas enormes que tiene sobre los ojos. Como pueden ver también en la imagen de la derecha, le coloqué unos pequeños dientitos en la parte inferior del hocico, además de una enorme nariz de color marrón.

I made the legs very small so that they would match the small size of the figurine, since it is made in the Chibi style.
In the image below, you can see the two shapes of both the front and rear legs. I made the rear legs using the same orange color as the body and beige. I made an orange hemisphere and a thin layer of light color on the front and bottom, then used more light-colored plasticine for the legs.
In the image on the right, you can see the front legs, which are two short sticks with a protrusion at the bottom, where the toes are.
Las patitas las hice muy pequeñas, de manera que fuesen acordes al pequeño tamaño que tenía la figurita, pues recordemos que está hecha en un estilo Chibi.
En la imagen de abajo se puede apreciar las dos formas que tienen tanto las patas delanteras como traseras. Estas últimas las hice con el mismo color naranja del cuerpo y el color beige. Hice una semiesfera de color naranja y una delgada capa del color claro en la parte frontal y baja, luego usé más plastilina de color claro para las patitas.
En la imagen de al derecha se observan las patas delanteras, las cuales son dos bastoncitos cortos con una protuberancia en la parte inferior, donde están los deditos de las patas.

I attached both legs to the character's body, as you can see in the image below.
I also added more elements, such as a little more orange fur on both sides of the character's head and a pair of huge ears, orange on top and beige on the bottom. At this point, Frankie could sit up, so I added a long orange tail.
Ambas patas las uní al cuerpo del personaje, tal como pueden ver en la imagen a continuación.
Por otra parte, añadí más elementos como un poco más de pelaje de color naranja a ambos lados de la cabeza del personaje y un par de enormes orejas, con color naranja en la parte superior y color beige en la parte inferior. Ya en este punto Frankie se podía sentar, por lo que le coloqué una larga colita también de color naranja.

As for the body, the last thing I did was add accessories like that necklace with flaps similar to those on a shirt. I also added a couple of dots to the eyes to simulate sparkle.
I also made him a cute and charming hat, which makes him look pretty cool.
Con respecto al cuerpo, lo último que hice fue añadir accesorios como ese collar que tiene con solapas similares a la de una camiss. Además de un par de puntitos en los ojos para simular brillo.
Por otra parte también le hice su lindo y encantador sombrero, el cual lo hace lucir bastante genial.
