Since I started working with modeling clay again, my little cousin kept insisting for several days that we make modeling clay. I told her I could buy her one, but no, she wanted to make it.
Children tend to be very curious, so I guess she was curious to know how to make it, because I told her myself that it could be made with cornstarch, glue, vinegar and oil.

These are the ingredients with which this type of clay can be made. It is difficult to achieve the same quality as the ones in the store, but it can be done this way for children to play at home, because basically no dangerous materials are used.
Someone told me that instead of some oils, like coconut oil for example, you can use hand cream to give moisture to the mixture. I had not used it but I will comment on it later.
Esos son los ingredientes con los que se puede hacer este tipo de masa. Es difícil lograr la misma calidad que las de la tienda, pero se puede hacer de esta manera para que los niños jueguen en casa, pues básicamente no se usan materiales peligrosos.

As implements to prepare the clay I used a medium-sized pot, where I can mix enough clay in a comfortable way.
I also used a wooden paddle to avoid damaging the pot; on the other hand, it is always useful to have measuring implements, to achieve the right quantities.
Como implementos para preparar la masa utilicé una olla mediana, donde pueda mezclar la suficiente cantidad de masa de manera cómoda.
También utilicé una paleta de madera para no dañar la olla; por otra parte, siempre es útil tener implementos de medir, para lograr las cantidades adecuadas.

Well, to prepare this type of homemade clay you can use white school glue, but I had carpentry glue on hand. This glue is quite thick so I had to dilute it a bit to be able to use it.

The measurements I used for this preparation are not quite exact, but I used one cup of cornstarch and an equal cup of glue (diluted in this case).

The cup of flour is poured into the pot and then the glue is added.
Why in a pot? You may be wondering. Well, this recipe must be cooked. It is recommended to use a non-stick pan, I had this Teflon one but I can tell you that it still stuck.

This is where oils come in. I know of some people who use oils such as coconut oil to make modeling clay, but it is expensive and I had glycerin, which also works.
I used a teaspoon to add to the mixture, before starting all the preparation.
Aquí entran en escena los aceites. Sé de algunas personas que usan aceites como el de coco para hacer masa flexible, pero es costoso y yo tenía glicerina, que también sirve.
Usé una cucharadita para agregarla a la mezcla, antes de comenzar con toda la preparación.
As I told you, I used a Teflon pan, so I had to use a wooden spoon to avoid damaging the material.
With this wooden spoon I started to integrate all the materials and once they were all well mixed, I turned on the stove to start heating.
Important note. It is advisable to add a teaspoon of vinegar to the mixture, this will prevent certain ants from eating the clay.

Because of the type of material, I recommend a low flame to heat the mixture, but not burn it. A low flame will also allow us to have more control when it comes to feel the texture of the material.
It should be mixed continuously on the flame until the desired consistency is obtained. As you can see, it took on a yellow tone because of the color of the glue. If you use white glue, the mixture will be white, but you can also add colorants.
Por el tipo de material que es, les recomiendo una llama baja que permita calentar la mezcla, pero no quemarla. Una llama baja también nos permitirá tener mayor control a la hora de sentir la textura del material.
Se debe mezclar de manera continua en el fuego hasta que se obtenga la consistencia deseada. Como pueden observar, esta tomó una tonalidad amarilla por el color del pegamento. Si usan pegamento blanco, la mezcla quedará blanca, pero también pueden agregar colorantes.
Once the mixture is hard, but manageable, turn off the heat and let it rest.
It should have a consistency similar to mass, not like a cake mix, but like plasticine, a homogeneous mass.
Una vez que la mezcla esté dura, pero manejable, se apaga el fuego y se deja reposar.
Debe tener una consistencia similar a la masa, no como la mezcla de un ponqué, sino como plastilina, una masa homogénea.

Still warm, I began to knead the mixture, achieving a better texture and to prevent it from drying out, I kept it in a small plastic bag.
It should be noted that this clay can be reused as long as it is stored in this bag (or in a plastic bag to prevent air from entering).
You can use body cream like the one I showed you above to knead the clay before each use, so you can reuse it after it has been stored for a while.
Aún caliente, comencé a amasar la mezcla, logrando una mejor textura y para evitar que se seque, la guardé en una pequeña bolsita de plástico.
Cabe destacar, que esta masa se puede volver a usar siempre y cuando esté guardada en esta bolsa (O en un plástico donde evite que entre aire).
Se puede usar crema corporal como la que les mostré más arriba para amasar la masa antes de cada uso, así la podremos volver a usar después de que haya estado guardada por un tiempo.

Saludos amigo, que genial que haya tomado esa iniciativa y de esa manera realizar esta masa, además así poder compartir y pasar un rato agradable. No conocía esta manera de prepararlo y lo genial es que no require de muchas cosas para su elaboración, lo curioso es el color que agarra dicha masa, ahora ya no tendrás problemas al la hora de trabajar, ya que por masa no te vas a detener. Gracias por compartirlo con nosotros.
Epa si y no. Bien porque la sé hacer, pero no me serviría para ciertas figuras que yo hago, porque no se adaptan a formas tan completas. Pero sí se pueden hacer cosas como muñecos o colebritas y formas básicas. Pero un iron man, por ejemplo, no se podría hacer con esta mezcla.
