The Updates Of My Tomatoes Farm:: Ripening Of The Tomatoes Fruits

in DIYHub • 11 months ago
Greetings all and Sundry! It's another successful week. I hope you are all doing well. I'm happy 😊 once again to share with you the state of my tomato farm. It's the ripening time, many of the matured fruits have shown good ripening. During this time it doesn't need a lot of rain which would cause the rotting of the fruits. As soon as it rots, bacteria enter and cause spoilage. Even though plenty rain could cause mess of the ripped tomato fruits, yet they still need some dews or precipitation to encourage other flowers to bear fruits and long life span so that I can have bountiful harvest.

Since my last updates of the farm, it hasn't rained, most of the leaves and the branches are turning into yellowish colour. This obviously shown a short lifespan of the tomato fruits. I'm again sensing the symptoms of disease attacks of my farm. Even though the problem might be the lack of rain, yet I see some dark spots appearing on some of the fruits. This might be Anthracnose fruit rot which has set in. This is one of the fungi diseases which attack the fruits and cause them to rot as soon as possible. When it attack the fruit, it first leave some scar on the fruits and later begins to rot. The unripped ones when affected begin to rot the. This obviously lead to low yield of the tomato. The rotten ones become unhygienic to be consumed.

The ripening of my tomatoes

Another obvious disease I discovered to have attacked my tomatoes at this late stage is the Early bright which attack the leaves and creat black spot at the affected parts. This was not seen at the early stage of the plants life. It later appeared when during the fruiting. It has many causes especially when there is too much rain or lack of rain can cause it. As I had already said, it has been some weeks now it hadn't rain. Even though a lot of recommended chemicals have been applied, yet the disease was strong to invade in my farm. The tomatoes have Already matured and most of them have ripened that's why I don't want to spray again.

observing some possible early bright in my tomatoes farm

When the Early bright set in, it led the plants die prematurely before it normal lifespan. The leaves turns yellow and later show some symptoms of dying. In this case, the the number of days that the fruiting take wouldn't reach. Most of the tomatoes fruit also ripe very early. In fact I am not happy about how the leaves and the state of the farm I am watching if I'll see any visible changes. It's also likely for the tomatoes to be diseased when there is over application of chemicals and fertilizer to the tomatoes. This make the plants prone to diseases. I am expecting good harvest if all things being equal. The cracking of the the tomatoes fruits during ripening is sometimes due to excess rainfall but I don't know the reason why the tomatoes fruits have been cracking since there isn't rainfall lately.

It's too hot. If it rains, it will be great for tomatoes and you may see these problems. Thank you for sharing the updates!

Thanks so much for your support. I know this problem can be corrected if it rains.
