The Christmas Star is a very special symbol at this time of the year, since it represents the star of Bethlehem that guided the Magi to the place where Jesus was born. Besides being a beautiful ornament, it has a special meaning of hope, light and guidance.

La Estrella de Navidad es un símbolo muy especial en esta época del año, ya que representa la estrella de Belén que guió a los Reyes Magos hasta el lugar donde nació Jesús. Además de ser un adorno hermoso, tiene un significado especial de esperanza, luz y guía.

Today, when I arrived at my 6 year old niece's house, she showed me her Christmas tree and commented: "Auntie, we don't have a star for our tree". I got to work on it and ended up making a 3D Star.

Hoy, al llegar a casa de mi sobrina de 6 años, me mostró su árbol de Navidad y comentó: "Tía, no tenemos una estrella para nuestro árbolito". Ni corta ni perezoza me puse a trabajar en ello y terminé elaborando una Estrella en 3D.

Gold cardboard
Scissors
Ruler or squares
Pencil
Silicone gun
Silicone or glue sticks

1- Start by flipping the cardboard sheet, proceed to measure, mark and cut 5 squares of gold cardboard. You can choose the size you want, to make my star I used a size of 16x16 cm.

1- Comienza volteando la lámina de cartulina, procede a medir, marcar y cortar 5 cuadrados de cartulina dorada. Puedes elegir el tamaño que desees, para elaborar mi estrella use un tamaño de 16x16 cm.

2- Take a square of gold cardboard and fold diagonally to form a triangle. Be sure to press the fold well so that it is well defined.

2- Toma un cuadrado de cartulina dorada y dobla diagonalmente para formar un triángulo. Asegúrate de presionar bien el pliegue para que quede bien definido.

3- Then, take one end of the triangle and fold it towards the center of the diagonal fold. Repeat this step with the other end of the triangle.

4- Now, fold the bottom tip up and you have a smaller triangle with two flaps at the bottom. Fold these flaps inward, following the triangular shape, to create a flat base.

6- Now with the 5 triangles, it's time to assemble the star. Apply a small amount of hot silicone or glue to one of the flaps of a triangle and attach the flap of another triangle to it. Continue gluing the flaps of the remaining triangles to form the complete star.

7- Be sure to press the flaps firmly so that they adhere properly. Allow the glue to dry completely before handling the star.

8- And that's it! Now you have a beautiful 3D paper star made of gold cardboard. I glued a ring on the back with the same cardboard so I could attach it to the branches of the tree's crown. If you wish, you can repeat these steps with more cardboard squares of different sizes to make more stars and decorate your Christmas tree.
