Por aquí paso para mostrarles cómo hice esta pulsera inspirada en la majestuosa montaña de nuestra ciudad, Caracas, que no es otra que el Waraira Repano, nombre dado por los pueblos originarios, o como también se le conoce, Cerro El Ávila. Esta montaña es donde muchos salen a caminar o hacer senderismo; otros pasean a sus lugares turísticos como Galipán, el Teleférico o el Hotel Humboldt, por ejemplo. Quería hacer algo para conmemorar este hermoso lugar.
Para diseñar la idea principal, busqué que el diseño fuera fácilmente reconocible. Por eso pensé: ¿qué característica tiene la montaña para ser identificada? Este elemento es la Cruz y el Hotel Humboldt. Preferí colocar el Humboldt porque es la edificación más emblemática de este Parque Nacional y, de verdad, desde mi ventana, que tiene vista a la montaña, es lo que más me llama la atención.
Decidí hacer el diseño base muy sencillo en Inkscape, con la figura de la montaña que básicamente sea esa vista de la cima y el hotel, junto a la bandera..

Materiales e Insumos Usados:
- Lámina de bronce de 0,75 mm.
- Arco de segueta y sierra 2/0.
- Lijas número 220, 360 y 400.
- Dremel y fresa de 0,75 mm.
- Mandril de pulsera.
- Motor de banco, disco de tela y cera de pulir.
- Cordón de piel de serpiente de 2 mm e hilo chino.
Proceso
Como siempre, el proceso es agarrar una lámina de bronce, en este caso una lámina de 0,75 mm, que garantiza cierta dureza. Paso lija de 220 por la superficie del metal y pego con pega blanca la impresión de la placa de la pulsera.
Después de pegar, espero unos minutos y abro los huecos de los espacios internos de la pieza que irán vacíos. Para esto, uso el Dremel y la fresa de 0,8 mm. Culminado este paso, voy con la segueta y la sierra número 2/0, empezando a hacer los cortes internos y después los cortes de la silueta externa.
Se quita la impresión y se revisa el corte. Al ser hecho a mano, no queda perfecto, pero se puede ir corrigiendo con la segueta y con las limas.
Por lo rápido que quería hacer este proyecto, se me pasó tomarle fotografías al resto de los pasos, pero sencillamente después de hacer los cortes y corregir parte de ellos con la segueta y la lima, agarro y le doy forma curva a la lámina,para esto usé un mandril de joyería, pero incluso con un pote redondo se le puede dar forma sin problema.
Ya con la pieza curvada empiezo a lijar usando lija número 220, 360 y 400, justo en esta secuencia. Por último, paso a pulir con el motor de banco, el disco de tela y la pasta de pulir. Para evitar que la pieza salga volando, la sostengo con un alambre delgado y, como soporte para evitar lastimarme los dedos, uso un pedazo de cuero.
Una vez pulida y limpia, le incorporo cordón de piel de serpiente, en este caso es de 2 mm, y un nudo de macramé hecho con hilo chino en el centro para ajustar la pulsera.
Cómo pueden ver es una pulsera sencilla con cierta elegancia gracias al bronce pulido. Cómo dato curioso esta pulsera le tome foto allá arriba en la parte de complejo del Teleférico, muy cerca del hotel Humboldt, gracias a qué allí se hacen ferias en la que se invita a los artesanos locales de Caracas y de otras partes del país.

I'm stopping by to show you how I made this bracelet inspired by the majestic mountain of our city, Caracas, which is none other than Waraira Repano, the name given by the indigenous peoples, or as it's also known, Cerro El Ávila. This mountain is where many people go for walks or hikes; others visit its tourist attractions like Galipán, the cable car, or the Hotel Humboldt, for example. I wanted to make something to commemorate this beautiful place.
To design the main idea, I wanted the design to be easily recognizable. So I thought: what characteristic does the mountain have that makes it identifiable? That element is the Cross and the Hotel Humboldt. I chose to feature the Humboldt Hotel because it's the most iconic building in this National Park, and honestly, from my window, which overlooks the mountains, it's what catches my eye the most.
I decided to keep the base design very simple in Inkscape, using the mountain as a basic view, with the hotel and the flag.

Materials and Supplies Used:
0.75 mm thick brass sheet.
Hacksaw frame and 2/0 saw blade.
220, 360, and 400 grit sandpaper.
Dremel tool and 0.75 mm milling cutter.
Wrist chuck.
Bench motor, cloth polishing wheel, and polishing wax.
2 mm thick snakeskin cord and Chinese thread.
Process
As always, the process involves taking a sheet of brass, in this case a 0.75 mm sheet, which guarantees a certain degree of hardness. I sand the surface of the metal with 220 grit sandpaper and glue the printed bracelet plate to it with white glue.
After gluing, I wait a few minutes and then cut out the holes for the internal spaces of the piece that will be empty. For this, I use a Dremel tool and a 0.8 mm bit. Once this step is complete, I use a 2/0 saw blade, starting to make the internal cuts and then the cuts for the external outline.
The printed plate is removed, and the cut is checked. Since it's handmade, it's not perfect, but you can correct it with a hacksaw and files.
Because I wanted to finish this project quickly, I forgot to take pictures of the other steps, but simply put, after making the cuts and correcting some of them with the hacksaw and file, I take the sheet metal and shape it into a curve. I used a jewelry mandrel for this, but you can even shape it with a round pot without any problem.
Once the piece is curved, I start sanding it using 220, 360, and 400 grit sandpaper, in that exact sequence. Finally, I polish it with a bench polisher, a cloth wheel, and polishing compound. To prevent the piece from flying, I hold it with a thin wire, and I use a piece of leather as a support to avoid hurting my fingers.
Once polished and cleaned, I add snakeskin cord, in this case 2 mm, and a macrame knot made with Chinese thread in the center to adjust the bracelet.
As you can see, it's a simple bracelet with a touch of elegance thanks to the polished bronze. As a fun fact, I took this picture of the bracelet up there in the Teleférico complex, very close to the Hotel Humboldt, because they hold fairs there that feature local artisans from Caracas and other parts of the country.
