Hello creative people!!! I hope you're all doing well. After some time away, I'm coming back to share with you some of what I've been making lately.
If you've read my previous posts, you know I love working with cardboard and handmade paper. And today I'm bringing you another name to decorate a baby's room — his name is Oliver, and he's a little one just 3 months old.
His grandmother got in touch with me to order her grandson's name, and she wanted it to have a decoration similar to the tool sets they sell for kids. So I got to work creating the design — in all the years I've been making these decorations, this is the first time I've been asked for this particular theme.
Once it was ready, presented, and approved by the client, I started the making process. It's quite easy to do, and you can look for alternatives for the decoration and even for making the letters themselves. Sometimes we have a gift to give and we want to make it with our own hands, full of love for someone special — and this kind of project can be the perfect gift. Hola gente creativa!!! Espero estén todos bien. Después de un tiempo vengo a compartir con ustedes algo de lo que he hecho últimamente.
Si han leído mis publicaciones anteriores, saben que me encanta trabajar con cartón y papel artesanal. Y hoy les traigo otro nombre para decorar la habitación de un bebé, su nombre es Oliver, y es un pequeño de apenas 3 meses de nacido.
Su abuela se puso en contacto conmigo para encargar el nombre de su nieto y quería que tuviese una decoración semejante a los juegos de herramientas que venden para niños. Así que puse manos a la obra para crear el diseño, en los años que llevo haciendo estas decoraciones, es la primera vez que me encargaban este tema en particular.
Una vez listo, presentado y con la aprobación de la clienta comencé la elaboración. Es bastante fácil de hacer y se pueden buscar alternativas para la decoración y hasta para la misma confección de las letras. A veces tenemos un regalo que hacer y queremos hacerlo con nuestras manos, lleno de cariño para alguien especial y este tipo de proyectos puede ser el regalo perfecto. Les dejo la lista de materiales y el paso a paso, no te limites, atrévete a hacerlo!!!
Needed:
- Molds
- Corrugated cardboard (enough to fit everything)
- Craft paper
- Recycled white paper
- Foam sheets
- Glue
- Scissors
- Cutter knife
- Acrylic paints (blue and metallic gray, orange, red, yellow, and green)
- Brushes
- Double-sided tape Cutter knife
Se necesita:
- Moldes
- Cartón corrugado (suficiente para que quepa todo)
- Papel artesanal
- Papel blanco reutilizado
- Foami
- Pegamento
- Tijeras
- Cúter
- Pinturas acrílicas (azul y gris metalico, naranja, rojo, amarillo y verde)

- Cinta adhesiva doble cara
The first step was to cover the cardboard on both sides. I glued the handmade paper to the front and the reused paper to the back. Then I traced the letters and cut them out. Once cut, I covered the exposed edges of the cardboard with pre-cut strips of handmade paper.
El primer paso fue forrar el cartón por ambas caras. Pegué por el anverso el papel artesanal y por el reverso el reutilizado. Después marqué las letras y las calé. Una vez caladas cubrí los bordes expuestos del cartón con tiras de papel artesanal previamente cortadas.
Next, I painted all the letters blue and started making the decorations that I would place on and around them. With foam sheet, I made several circles and semicircles that I used to create shapes that look like screw heads. For that, I painted them metallic gray. Using the templates, I traced, cut out, and painted each tool in the chosen color.
Seguidamente pinté todas las letras de color azul y empecé a hacer los adornos que pondría sobre y alrededor de ellas. Con foami, hace varios círculos y semicírculos que utilicé para hacer figuras que parecen cabezas de tornillos. Para eso, las pinté de gris metálico. Con ayuda de los moldes marqué, calé y pinté del color elegido cada herramienta.
With every detail ready, I glued the screws harmoniously onto the letters and put tape on the back so it could be hung on the wall. And that's how it was ready to deliver.
Con cada detalle listo, pegué de manera armónica, los tornillos sobre las letras y puse cinta adhesiva por la parte trasera para poder pegarlo a la pared. Así quedó listo para entregar.
This project turned out absolutely amazing, and the client ended up super pleased. I hope Oliver liked it too 😉.
Este proyecto quedó chulísimo y la clienta terminó super complacida. Espero que a Oliver también le haya gustado 😉.
