Hello @diyhub community . For a while now, I've been fascinated with the small insects that live around my environment especially how they help with pollination, soil health, and natural balance. So I decided to try something practical that is building my own insect Hotel. I wanted to create something very simple and also useful too. This would be completely made from materials that are very easy to find around my house. That idea led to the small project which I successfully completed today and I'm very excited to share it here in DIY HUB community.
My main goal was to create a small shelter where insects can rest, and stay protected from the rain and also their enemies. So instead of buying anything, I decided to work on Scrap materials. I ended up using pieces of roofing sheets , nails , wooden frame parts and small iron mesh. What I love most about this project is that it combines creativity with environmental care.
After putting the materials together and forming the insect Hotel, I hung the insect Hotel on a tree in my Compound. This area has fresh air, shades and leaves which insects naturally look for.
How I built My Insect Hotel
Before I get started, let me list down the materials I used for this project.
A pair of Pliers | Scissors ✂️ |
|---|---|
Pieces of Roofing Sheets | Iron Mesh |
Roofing Nails | Wooden Frame Parts |

Now let's get started with the Steps
(1.) The first was to Cut the Roofing Sheets in Rectangular Shapes

(2.) Secondly, I had to Fold the Sheets which I had cut to make it easy to form Corners were I'll add nails .

(3.) We then attach the base which is the wooden frame parts to the Corners we formed using Roofing Nails .

(4.) Next we cut the Iron Mesh to form two rectangular Shaped Iron Mesh. Then we join it to the the base and this would give us a cube shaped Structure.

(5.) The next Step is to create the Roof and to do that we have to cut a piece of Roofing sheet. We finally then Pliers to Fold to get that Perfect roof Shape.

(6.) Well I can say that this is the final step that is, we added the roof and Boom 💥 we're done creating our Simple Insect Hotel 🎉

Conclusion
Working on a simple project like this one reminded me that DIY creativity is not just about buying expensive materials or tools. It's about how we use our imagination and also the willingness to try something new. Building this insect Hotel also made me to appreciate the small creatures around us. Though, they might seen insignificant, but they quietly help in our environment in way we do not always notice.
I'm so excited with how my insect Hotel turned out , and I hope it inspires others to try something better whether for decoration or environmental support. I really want to thank you dear reader for going through my post and also Big Thanks to DIYHUB community for encouraging projects like this one . I can't wait to observe insects that would eventually make it their home 🥲.
