Sewing and Decluttering; still in the business of making wears.

Hello Hive

A happy Tuesday to everyone I hope that we are having a good time.
The rains trapped us indoor today and it was almost impossible yo step out during the early ours of the morning. I used this privilege go take care of my living room which happens to be my workplace as well.

Yesterday while making a dress for a friend as my needleworkmonday project I noticed how my workspace was so tough and occupied. So many bags of unfinished clothes and the ones I equally damage while learning one style of the other.

It is typically of any seamstress to makes mistakes while sewing but for me I made very terrible mistakes with garments construction and have destroyed some fabrics in the process. While some are still redeemable others are not. I am not in anyway sad about that now, I'm just glad that those mistakes were the stepping stone of my fashion skills and I go so better at sewing now, making beautiful outfits that people love.

I feel the need to declutter and discard whatever will no longer be of good use. Rather than stack the whole room unfinished clothes I could create new designs of worthy fabrics, recut and readjust the ones I can and clear off my living room.

Some of the fabrics are really still beautiful while others are outdated and I have to rework them to meet with modern designs. And some of the designs are what I can no longer wear like this very one.

I don't feel like wearing this anymore but I will complete the design just Incase I find another lady interested in the dress. It's time to declutter and gift out wear to free up my space, or better still find market to sell them off cheaply.

For this very dress I made several mistakes from the cutting of the necklines which makes the dress chocking and uncomfortable at the neck. I measured out a more lower necklines and cut it out here

Got a bias strip which I used to turn the necklines inward

The pleated parts also didn't align which I had to equally adjust

Next I cut out a long strip to sew as a belt for the dress since I didn't feel like sewing a fitted dress. And this will make the dress comely a little.

Next I got some remaining pieces of fabric and cut out a straight sleeve after much deliberation of what kind of sleeve will match this design of dress.

Sewing the hem of the sleeves I attached the sleeve to the dress I stitched up the all the other. seamlines

The dress just came alive and probably a little ironing can give this a more brighter appearance but that can't be now as the storm did away with our power supply.
