Flowers with Cardboard Rolls / Flores Con Rollos de Cartón

Greetings, craft lovers! Today I want to share with you a project using cardboard rolls, because as you know, I love recycling. It involves making some pretty decorative flowers. Let's take a look at the materials and the step-by-step instructions.

¡Saludos, amantes de las manualidades! El día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un proyecto con rollos de cartón, ya que como saben, me encanta reciclar. Se trata de unas bonitas flores decorativas. Veamos los materiales y el paso a paso.

We will need / Vamos a necesitar:

Rolls of toilet paper / Rollos de papel higiénico
Liquid silicone, white glue and scissors / Silicón líquido, pega blanca y tijeras
Paint, paintbrush, decorative beads, and glitter / Pintura, pincel, cuentas decorativas y escarcha

We start by flattening each cardboard roll to form a rectangle. Then we draw two semicircles on the roll, which we will then cut out, as shown in the images. We will need about 12 of these pieces.

Iniciamos aplanando cada rollo de cartón para lograr un rectángulo. Luego dibujamos dos semicírculos en el rollo que luego recortaremos, como vemos en las imágenes. Necesitaremos unas 12 piezas de estas.

We are going to make some fine diagonal cuts in the pieces, as shown in the image, to achieve a petal effect and give the flowers a better finish.

Vamos a hacer unos finos cortes diagonales en las piezas, como vemos en la imagen, para lograr un efecto de pétalos y que las flores lleguen a tener un mejor acabado.

It's time to paint our petals. In this case, I chose a bright gold color, but I had previously made a flower in a natural color and the finish was also beautiful. It's all a matter of taste and preference.

Es hora de pintar nuestros pétalos. En este caso elegí un color dorado brillante, sin embargo, ya antes había hecho una flor en color natural y el acabado también resultó bonito. Todo es cuestión de gustos y preferencias.

We need to press down on the center of the petals so that they take on the shape shown in the image below. This will give us a better finish.

Necesitamos hacer presión en el centro de los pétalos para que estos tomen la forma que vemos en la imagen de abajo. De esta manera lograremos un mejor acabado.

Once we have all the pieces ready, we will take a cardboard circle and start gluing 6 petals onto it as a base, as shown in the image.

Una vez tengamos todas las piezas listas, vamos a tomar un círculo de cartón y empezaremos a pegar sobre él 6 pétalos, como base, como vemos en la imagen.

Now we will glue the other 6 petals onto this base in an alternating pattern to create a second layer that will give our flower volume.

Ahora pegaremos sobre esta base los otros 6 pétalos de forma intercalada, para hacer una segunda capa que dará volumen a nuestra flor.

As a finishing touch, we will place some decorative beads in the center of the flower and glue them with liquid or stick silicone. I also added shine to the piece with a homemade varnish made with equal parts white glue, water and glitter.

Como toques finales colocaremos unas cuentas decorativas en el centro de la flor y pegamos con la ayuda de silicón líquido o en barra. Del mismo modo le di brillo a la pieza con un barniz casero hecho con partes iguales de pega blanca, agua y escarcha.
