Hello Diy community ✨
My crocheting journey has been a fun one and I must say that with each day I make a new crochet piece, the art gets more addictive.
I started crocheting about a month ago and so far I have made two headbands, a beanie, a top and a mini skirt and I have a few unfinished projects. The mini skirt is what I came to display today. The skirt isn't for me but for a teddy.
To make this skirt you'd need
- wool
- 4.5mm hook
- yarn needle
- scissors.
- stitch markers
First off, I started with the waist. I wanted to give the waist a stretch look. I started with a slip knot and chained 14. From there, I chained one extra and went ahead to do half double crochets in the back loops only. It depends on how big or small your waist is. I made a total of 120 rows for the waist.
After making the rows, I inserted my crocheting needle and went ahead to join the edges. From here, I started making the body of the skirt. I made a single crochet chain round the bottom edge of the waist and went ahead to make single crochets all around.
Making a skirt for a curvy person involves calculations. If you notice, this skirt increases in size as we go further. This increase was possible because I tagged my edges with stitch markers so that I would know exactly where I would make an increase. I made increases on rows 3,5,7,9 and 11.
This is how the skirt came out in the end.Don't forget to hide all your extra yarns.
PS: This skirt was meant for me but I ran out of yarn and as such, the doll became the new model. It's quite hard to find the same colour. In the near future, I hope to make this piece to a length which I can wear. If I do so, I will show it to you.
With love, wongi ✨
