The Carnival season in the city where I live is celebrated in style, it is even considered one of the first in the country, with school parades, the main one lasting 4 days, with lots of music, parties and celebration.
A neighbor asked me to make her daughter a Butterfly Mask for her school parade, and specifically to make it green and gold, since the girls would be butterflies of various colors and her daughter got these colors. I really made it very quickly, since today we have materials like frosted foam that saves us from having to frost ourselves. In this post, I want to show you how I made it... Welcome.
La temporada de Carnaval en la ciudad donde vivo es celebrada por todo lo alto, es incluso considerada una de las primeras del país, con desfiles escolares, el principal desfiles que dura 4 días, con mucha música, fiestas y celebración.
Una vecina me pidió que le hiciera a su hija una Máscara de Mariposa, para su desfile escolar, y que específicamente fuese verde y dorada, ya que las niñas serían mariposas de varios colores y a su hija le tocó estos colores. Realmente la hice muy rápido, ya que hoy en día disponemos de materiales como el foami escarchado que nos ahorra el tener que escarchar nosotras. To find inspiration for the butterfly design, I used the Canva Writer App in its Pro version. In the elements section I searched for: Vector butterfly.
I chose one that more or less resembled what I had in mind, although I really had to rework the design so that it wasn't so elaborate since it was for a girl and she probably wasn't going to be as careful with a more delicate design. I reduced the vector by half, and placed it on one end of the sheet that would be letter-sized, and printed it.
Para buscar inspiración en el diseño de la mariposa, utilicé la App de escritor de Canva en su versión Pro. En la parte de elementos busqué: Mariposa vector.
Elegí una que más o menos se parecía a lo que tenía pensado, aunque tuve que realmente reformular el diseño para que no fuese tan elaborado ya que era para una niña y seguramente no iba a tener el cuidado de un diseño más delicado. El vector lo reduje a la mitad, y lo coloqué en un extremos de la hoja que sería tamaño carta, y lo imprimí.

After rethinking the design to make it simpler, I cut it out and copied it onto the back of the green frosted foam, which was letter size.
El diseño luego de replantearlo para hacerlo más simple, lo recorté y lo copie en el reverso del foami escarchado verde, el cual era de tamaño carta.

This is what the Butterfly looked like, only with the green frosted foam, after cutting it out.
Así lucía la Mariposa, solo con el foami escarchado verde, luego de recortarlo.
The design details would be in golden frosted foam, so I copied the edges of the butterfly, and considered a thickness of approximately 1 cm for both sides. I cut them out.
Los detalles del diseño serían en foami escarchado dorado, así que copié los bordes de la mariposa, y consideré un grueso de 1cms aproximadamente, para ambos lados. Los recorté.

For the eyes, I also copied the shape and cut out the edges. Other shapes that the design had were like some almond shapes or drop shapes, and also circles of 3 sizes.
Para los ojos, también copie la forma y recorté los bordes. Otras formas que llevaba el diseño eran como algunas formas almendradas o formas de gotas, y también círculos de 3 tamaños.

These are the free forms that the butterfly mask will have. Now I glue them with liquid silicone, which I thought was better than hot silicone, since I could burn myself because they were smaller pieces and a bit harder to manipulate.
I also glued the gold edges.
Estas son las formas libres que tendrá la máscara de mariposa. Ahora a pegarlas con silicón líquido, que me pareció mejor que el caliente, ya que me podía quemar al ser piezas más pequeñas y algo más difíciles de manipular.
Igualmente, pegué los bordes dorados.

This was the final product, all that was left was to add some strips or elastic to place on the girl's face, but her mother told me not to put anything else on, since she had some strips of cotton fabric and would attach them with staples, it was that simple.
Este fue el producto final, faltaría simplemente colocar unas tiras o elásticas para ubicar en la cara de la niña, pero su mamá me dijo que no le pusiera más nada, ya que ella tenía unas tiras de tela de algodón y se las colocaría con unas grapas, así de simple.
