Hacer accesorios no es mi fuerte pero este año me tocaba si o si cursar la materia de proyecto de accesorios, es una materia difícil porque se trabaja mucho sobre la sensación que se quiere dar, la elección del material, la forma que se da y todo lo que se sume a eso dependerá del título del tema, es un gran trabajo de sensibilidad.
Making accessories isn't my strong suit, but this year I absolutely had to take the accessory design course. It's a difficult subject because you work a lot on the feeling you want to convey, the choice of material, the shape you give it, and everything else that goes with it, depending on the title of the topic. It's a great work of sensitivity.
Este título sale de ejercicios que se hacen clase a clase, hay bastantes y variados, el nuestro actualmente es "el eco de lo que fue mío" donde bajo la idea de un mundo perdido, se nos dio la tarea de pensar en cosas que habíamos perdido y llegamos a cosas bastante personales y profundas.
This title comes from exercises that are done class by class; there are many and varied ones. Ours is currently "The Echo of What Was Mine," where, based on the idea of a lost world, we were given the task of thinking about things we had lost and we arrived at some quite personal and profound things.
Trabajar con la pérdida es bastante complejo para mí, pero quiero aprobar la materia así que estoy haciendo mi mejor esfuerzo desde todos lados. Por un lado, escribiendo bastante, estos últimos días hice que mi cabeza pensara en muchísimas cosas relacionadas a la perdida y me encontré con cosas que no sabía que estaban ahí.
Working with loss is quite complex for me, but I want to pass the class, so I'm doing my best from all angles. On the one hand, by writing a lot, these past few days I've had my mind thinking about a lot of things related to loss, and I've come across things I didn't even know were there.
Estoy trabajando con semillas de jacaranda, perlas, y color dorado en purpurina, el proceso y la idea a la que llegamos después de algunas correcciones fue la de construir un altar a la memoria de eso que habíamos perdido.
I'm working with jacaranda seeds, pearls, and gold glitter. The process and idea we arrived at after some corrections was to build an altar in memory of what we had lost.
La parte más difícil es que esto tiene que ser algo que después se ancle al cuerpo, la ropa y se conecte entre sí, no puedo usar alambre y mucho menos cosas convencionales como ganchos para la ropa, para aretes y ese tipo de cosas normales de accesorios.
The hardest part is that this has to be something that then anchors to the body, the clothing, and connects to each other. I can't use wire, much less conventional things like clothes hooks, earring hooks, and that kind of normal accessory stuff.
Una de mis ideas fue la de perforar una de estas cascaras, son algo rígidas, pero las perfore de a poco con un objeto filoso, y me ayude con mis pinzas de hacer aros. También use lija para que ese círculo por donde va a pasar el dedo no quede filoso.
One of my ideas was to pierce one of these shells. They're somewhat rigid, but I drilled them little by little with a sharp object, using my ring-making pliers. I also used sandpaper to make sure the circle where my finger will go wouldn't be sharp.
El segundo que llegue a hacer es una especie de relicario que guarda una pequeña perla en su interior, esta perla a su vez esta sellada dentro de un pequeño plástico. Ambas dos piezas las barnicé y pinté con un poco de purpurina dorada.
The second one I made is a kind of locket that holds a small pearl inside, which is sealed inside a small plastic bag. I varnished both pieces and painted them with a bit of gold glitter.

Creo que es una idea interesante pero no estoy segura de como esto vaya a resultar al final, pero será un proceso al que me tendré que enfrentar, aún queda un poco más de cuatrimestre por delante, esperemos que todo resulte bien.
I think it's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure how this will turn out in the end. It's a process I'll have to face. There's still a little more of the semester left, so let's hope everything turns out well.
