Hello lovers of @amazingdrink, welcome you all to my blog. Today I am thrilled to share with us all a very healthy, nutritious and delicious drink commonly/ locally known in my place as Tamba while some areas its known as Ragi and others finger millet drink as it's other name. this drink is packed full with lots of health benefits and great importance to the human body that is made from fine ingredients that's why am in love with you.
Finger millet or Tamba is that one healthy drink which is first processed into powdered form from grains and then prepared in liquid form for consumption. The good thing about this drink is that it is not just consumed by adults alone but also serves as a good diet for kids and teenagers. It is highly rich, and like earlier said packed with lots of benefits as they are finely processed. For children and even adults suffering from malnutrition, finger millet (Tamba) is that meal they need as it provides them with all the appropriate nutrients their body needs.
Finger millet is also not too difficult to make from scratch and in fact it is fun and hygienic when one processes it themselves and as a matter of fact I did this one all alone. Although there are also trusted vendors one can still buy from and it would be good. With simple ingredients such as finger millet itself, groundnuts, swallow rice, ginger, cloves and others, this drink is already achieved also the ingredients can be locally sourced in our local marketplaces. Some of the importance of these drink is that it is a source of calcium, iron and antioxidants , it contributes to the bone and possibly aid in sugar control.
It also aids in weight management because the high fiber content makes you full for longer time, potentially reducing overall calorie intake and supporting weight management.
To prepare finger millet, these were the ingredients used:
- Finger millet powder ( 43.5g)
- sugar (2 teaspoon)
- Non-dairy liquid milk (180 ml)
- Water (400 ml)
PROCEDURES
Firstly, into the powered finger millet I poured in a little amount of water and with the help of a spoon I mixed to form a thick paste then kept aside.
I put the remaining water on fire and allowed it to come to a boil after which I added the boiling water into the tamba paste till it gets thick. This procedure is done just the same way pap or custard is made so one has to be careful so it doesn't turn watering.
After that I poured in the sugar to taste stirred it and afterwards I poured in the non- diary milk and because the milk is in liquid form, I decided to make the drink not to thick cause when the milk comes into it, it becomes less thick nevertheless it can still be done base on individuals preferences.
Serve hot.
This is unique for a perfect breakfast and goes so well with any snacks of your choice but I love to enjoy it with a very soft bread instead.
Thank you for your time, peace 🕊️
