There Is No Value in Crypto nor Money

crypto and money have no value.png

@themarkymark has long since told me that it's impossibly hard to create value out of thin air. His concept being that when you create a token and people buy it, then you have to make it valuable.

Well, you don't have to make it valuable, but that's why people buy tokens so you better get your skates on!

People want to see what they buy grow, that has long since been the premise of crypto.

But how do you do that on Hive? There is a lot of value in Hive; people can stake their tokens and earn a share in governance. Level up in the chain so to speak.

If people see value in Hive then that is an extremely strong premise for a token, and one where I see that it will eventually be the spirit of hive.

Eventually.

But in crypto itself, there is zero value. Marky is in a way right.

Think of it like this -- tokens are but just dead digits on a computer sitting on a blockchain; there is no value in that whatsoever.

There is no value in money either. Money is just the vehicle in which value is transferred and stored. But on it's own? Valueless.

Here's a question -- in a world with no people -- is money valuable? If Aliens travelled to this world and used entirely different technology to us; would gold, bitcoin, and the US dollar be valuable?

No, absolutely not. It'd be worthless.

We, are the value.

Every man, woman and child that walks this lovely green and blue planet is where the value is.

Bitcoin gets its value from participation, people that use it, people that see it as useful -- if there was no participation network then Bitcoin would be worth as much as @stickupboys used underwear, and um, that's not worth a lot! lol

That is actually where the world derives value from -- participation. When you have a shared goal in anything -- be that making pictures in your garage with a group of friends, or building a spacecraft to fly to the moon -- it all is built value.

To build value, one must participate.

Participation builds meaning, and meaning transcends into value.

In short, meaning is the true essence of value.

But what do you do in a world bereft of meaning? Where people ascribe meaning to plastic notes and gold thrones?

And there is absolutely no meaning in plastic notes and gold thrones; only emptiness and the void awaits -- those that have tasted the emptiness before know.

You build with meaning.

The world is about to change my friends in ways you can't comprehend just yet but it's on the horizon.

Humanity has been starved of meaning for a long time -- this is why you see people diving head first into crazy ideologies and communities that would make your head spin to just get a small glimpse of meaning.

The sense of belonging to something higher than themselves with a greater purpose -- too great a magnetic pull for them to withstand, even if it means defending insane beliefs if only they can be a part of the few that they do believe in.

But worry not, I am now building with meaning, and Hive will have it's very own hub of sorts, which in a way is a safeguard from the crumbling of the old that's in front of us.

Those that remain and those that join us early will in fact realise that we're only in our prologue. That good things await as I build meaning all around us.

It may not seem like much now of course, but in a year?

Get ready for front and centre.

The flame won't judge you of course, neither will I. For I was a man grieving, filled with anger and hate at one point in my life.

I know what it's like to be dragged through the mud kicking and screaming and having to make peace with the other side.

But change is coming.

And truth is what awaits us.

@themarkymark has long since told me that it's impossibly hard to create value out of thin air. His concept being that when you create a token and people buy it, then you have to make it valuable.

What I said it is it is virtually impossible to create value for free. Which is what most of these tokens are trying to do. Creating value is easy, I can give you a piece of paper and say if you give it back to me, I'll wash your car. It's the cost factor that's the real problem, creating value in a vacuum is easy.

I think you missed the point I was trying to make at the time.

Creating value in a sustainable way is far more difficult without becoming a salesforce. You create value sustainable, tokens will sell themselves. No one here has figured it out, because it is virtually impossible as I originally said. 90% of Hive Engine tokens just package curation rewards (the only thing valuable here) in some way or another.

Hmm, perhaps I did!

It's weird no-one has figured out the intense value in writing yet.

That some people do it for free on WordPress and yet here it's more like extraction rather than value added.

Perhaps you see where I'm going with this -- maybe not.

Time will tell old friend :)

There is little value to most people seeing pictures of people's flowers in their backyard or how they upvoted four people today. Even the "quality" content has little to no value unless it solves a problem for someone. With AI at everyone's finger tip, they can just ask for anything they want.

Here's a short story about Reginald the Osterich who is on vacation in Jamiaca.

Reginald, a lanky ostrich from the dusty savannas, decided it was time for a break from sprinting across plains. He booked a ticket to Jamaica, dreaming of sandy beaches and reggae beats. Landing in Montego Bay, he strutted off the plane, his long neck craning to take in the vibrant island. The locals, amused by his towering presence, greeted him with warm smiles and offered him a coconut, which he pecked at curiously. Determined to blend in, Reginald swapped his usual dusty shuffle for a swaying waddle to the rhythm of a nearby steel drum band. By sunset, he was lounging on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach, feathers ruffled by the sea breeze, sipping a mango smoothie (no rum, of course—ostriches don’t indulge). His heart raced with joy, not from running, but from the island’s infectious vibe.

The next day, Reginald ventured into the Blue Mountains, his gangly legs navigating the lush trails with surprising grace. A local guide, chuckling at the sight of an ostrich among coffee plants, taught him about Jamaica’s famous Blue Mountain beans. Reginald, ever the curious bird, nibbled a berry, only to spit it out in a flurry of feathers—coffee wasn’t his thing. Instead, he found bliss splashing in a hidden waterfall, his head bobbing to an imagined reggae tune. As he gazed at the misty peaks, Reginald felt a pang of freedom he’d never known back home. Jamaica, with its colors, sounds, and laid-back spirit, had stolen his heart. He vowed to return, maybe even bring his flock next time to show them life beyond the savanna.

Yep.

It's why I built the flame.

Need 100% non AI, non bullshit words with meaning? I have an invite only community for that.

Don't really like the premise of The Flame or what it stands for? Great, all my writers bear the mark of the flame -- go see what they are up to.

Can guarantee you it's straight from heart and soul and zero AI.

I also know what I'm searching for and the type of writers that would rather die than use AI.

See? Changing hive one step at a time.
