Planning to visit Bangladesh soon!

In the last decade, Bangladesh is among the fastest growing economies in the world. With 400 B USD in 2022 country is growing at 6.4% growth rate. It is really impressive figures for a country who celebrated its 50th birthday recently. Bangladesh was separated from Pakistan in 1971 after Indo-Pak war. Fast industrialization of BD, political stability and hardworking people are the main reasons behind the unprecedented growth story of Bangladesh.

Not only BD is a fast-growing industrial country but also becoming a hub for medical education. Currently, there are about 112 recognized medical colleges in Bangladesh, including 72 private medical colleges. There are seats allocated for foreign students in private colleges of the country. Already thousands of foreign students in which majority is of Indian students are pursuing their MBBS dream.

In India, pursuing MBBS dream is not easy as competition is very high for government colleges and private colleges are not affordable for middle class population. In such condition, Bangladesh is emerging a favorite destination for MBBS education.

Purpose of my proposed visit to Bangladesh is also the same, to survey about private colleges situated across the country who are providing MBBS degree.

Getting BD visit visa for an Indian is not so difficult, but not available online. One have to fill the form online and visit the nearest Bangladesh embassy with the print-out of the filled form and passport copy.

Travel from India to Bangladesh can be done by both road and air route. There are several border check posts available across 4000 Km long India-Bangladesh land border.

As Bangladesh is well-connected to India by all routs viz. road, train and air, so I will prefer road and train rout. I am thinking to go by road and return by train. I am planning to enter via northern border check post Haldibari(India) - Chilahati(Bangladesh). It is convenient for me as it is near to New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station and Bagdogra airport in West Bengal. From North to South in Bangladesh, I want to visit about 15 colleges which I already have shortlisted. Mainly, I will visit colleges in Rangpur and Dhaka region. Currently, two trains are operating between India and Bangladesh. Mitali Express (New Jalpaiguri to Dhaka) and Bandhan Express (Kolkata to Bangladeshi city Khulna). I think Mitali Express will be suitable for me while returning to India.

It is all under planning stage and based on my initial research about Bangladesh. I hope if it gets materialized I will be travelling in mid of August 2022.
