Although many of the mysteries of the moon have been discovered since Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, still there is no end to the stories or feelings of people about it. People like to tell exaggerated talk about the moon. In my childhood, I heard many stories of the old woman (চাঁদের বুড়ি) of the moon from my grandma. Many lovers have succeeded in their romantic journey telling the story or singing a song about moon to their beloved ones. However, the moon is one of the most romantic topics of all time. On the night of the full moon, let’s have some brainstorming about being an enlightened person.
Science says the moon has no light of its own, it is illuminated by the light of the sun. Similarly, in real life we sometimes depend on our mentors to enlighten us. Bishwa Sahitya Kendra, under the leadership of Abdullah Abu Sayeed Sir is looking for enlightened people with the slogan ‘আলোকিত মানুষ চাই’
When you observe will see a car full of books standing in front of the alley of your house where the above slogan is written. Their aim is to become our mentor by propagating the knowledge through reading books. The mobile library is a great idea and thanks to the Bishwa Sahitya Kendra for taking such a great initiative.
Although the mobile library goes door-to-door to impart knowledge, the question remains how many people use it properly or benefit from its initiative. Where most people nowadays spend more time on Facebook than their spouses and children, reading books is implausible. If Syed Mujtaba Ali were alive today, maybe he would write the following words like this.
মোবাইলের এমবি কিনে কেউ তো কখনো দেউলে হয়নি
Here is the original phrase from writer-
বই কিনে কেউ তো কখনো দেউলে হয়নি।
We all expect enlightened people but there will be very few of us work for creating enlightened people. Most parents in our country dream of their child to be a doctor or an engineer and impose that decision on their children. Let no one misunderstand me again here that doctors or engineers are not enlightened people. But it must be come from his inside, only then he will love his work and develop his talent in the respective field. This is the first step in building enlightened people by placing kids in the right place according to their talents, but this is where many of us are lagging behind.
School is the second step in building enlightened people. However, nowadays I feel very sad to look at schools because there is more trade than teaching. The quality of teachers in most of the schools are very poor except few good schools in the country. It is ludicrous to ask for good output from these low quality teachers. Again, the same question arises as to why good teachers are not yielding. Not to mention about others, nowadays girls do not want to select schoolteachers as their life partners. Although I am joking, it’s true.
So, if you want to be an enlightened person, either you have to have a good mentor or try yourself rather getting hopeless. Books can be your true mentor on the way to becoming enlightened people. So, read more and more books, be enlightened person, and spread that light among others.
Seeing the moon, I was thinking above words and a song came in my mind unknowingly. Rabindranath Tagore is really genius and Guru of love....
চাঁদের হাসির বাঁধ ভেঙেছে,
উছলে পড়ে আলো।
ও রজনীগন্ধা তোমার, গন্ধসুধা ঢালো।
Although I don’t have tuberose flower plant on my rooftop but it would have been better if I had one at this moment. The weather could have been more romantic with the moonlight and the smell of flowers.....
About 15 years ago, while I was a student of intermediate level, I engaged with a book reading campaign বইপড়া কর্মসূচি initiated by Vishwa sahitya Kendra, বিশ্ব সাহিত্য কেন্দ্র. It helped me very much to know about the foreign literature.
From my early age, I was concerned about the classical literature of our country. But I had no idea about the literature beyond our country border. Due to that campaign, we had to read a book per each week. It was a great combination of local and international classical literature. That's why I always respect honourable sir Abdullah Abu Sayed. His slogan- looking for enlightened person, আলোকিত মানুষ চাই, motivated me on that time and even still now.
But I agree with you that due to change in time, it should be questioned again, what is the present impact of mobile library ভ্রাম্যমান লাইব্রেরী nowadays. As now anybody if want to get a literature book, he may find it easily on his mobile.
Nice to know that once you were associated with বিশ্ব সাহিত্য কেন্দ্র
As you like to read books, you know reading books have different feeling. I never get myself satisfied reading online books, really personal opinion though:-) Enjoy your time bro. Thanks.
Most of the people, I heard to say, not get actual feelings of hard copy on e-version. But I don't know why I get same feelings on both format. Even I feel some extra comfort on e-book. Whenever I have a journey, I like to read. And this revolution on the format of book give me relief from bringing books. It's my opinion, must not match with others.
That’s your choice. It varies person to person.
